I was just on IMDB and noticed that there is a blurb up for episode 5 (Stardust City Rag). I'm pretty sure this hasn't been posted yet:

SO, it's looking more and more like this is going to be Maddox...

I'm thinking the "her" kinda-sorta gives it away.

The Synth's to me seemed more like mobile iPhones rather than functioning human-like beings.

Hell RUK was closer to being a human than anything we've seen in Android form in PICARD.

I guess we should be glad that our phones don't have arms & legs.

Mobile iPhones? No way were their designs Apple. They probably ran the Google Android OS.

If you consider Star Trek values to be the narrative equivalent of a comfort blanky that people can cuddle up with every week to be reassured all is good in the universe, sure.

To bad they didn't get the Soon to be Martyred One to show up in advance for future Church of St. Connolly members to accept them as deep and meaningful.

Supposed "Trek Values" blew out the door when Mr. Roddenberry started drinking his own Kool Aid.
And that began with The Motion Picture.
So making those kinda blanket statements is silly.

SO, it's looking more and more like this is going to be Maddox...

If this is Maddox, it's automatic -1 point demerit for the episode he is going to appear in (so basically it's going to be my first 9) There is absolutely no reason to recast a character if the original actor is still around. Maddox is recognizable enough (and this guy is not Maddox) that another actor playing him will be jarring.

Who knows, perhaps the actual actor had some reason for not wanting to do it or the contracts couldn't be worked out.

Whatever it is, I'll just consider it as another Alley/Curtis type of thing.
