Growing up in the late 70s I remember getting the various AMT models. I remember some of the older ones had an order form to purchase a Star Trek jacket. I thought they resembled the ones used in The Cage/Menagerie. Does anyone have one? I’ve always wondered how they looked. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an actual one. Or is my memory playing tricks on me?

I have one. It is cool because it kind of resembles Spock’s dress uniform. It’s a windbreaker with a zippered front, plus it has the Science emblem on the chest. It also has officers braid on the sleeves.

Thanks. As I’m in the process of selling my collection, I remembered that promotion and how I never saw the actual jacket. but by the time I became a fan, I believe the promotion had ended

That Worthpoint link doesn't show any photos. Does anyone have any links that show what the jacket looks like?

Oh, it's just a regular flight/bomber-type jacket gussied up with Starfleet markings. I wouldn't mind wearing that in public. :techman:

I think I may have owned one of those around 1973 or 74. Either I did or my buddy Kyle. I'm certain one of us did because I remember the embroidery for the chevron was rather sparse, threadbare. As it was blue, I would think I would have had it as I was always Spock to his Kirk when we "backyard roleplayed". But on the other hand, Kyle's mother was one more to indulge in his whims while my father was a bit more frugal and didn't trust a product unseen. The more I try to recall, I think it was Kyle who owned it because I think he eventually removed the chevron to place upon a snug pullover with a dark collar he had, his "Captain Kirk shirt".

Both Kyle and I got those, "command" gold for him and "science" blue for me. That item my father permitted as it could be examined before purchased. Of course, neither Kyle nor I were exactly thrilled with the black elastic cuffs, , but they were far, FAR closer than anything we had until that point, so we were forgiving of that "inaccuracy".

Not sure if I would have wanted one of these, even when I was eight, but it is a nice collectible.

Man, I loved the Donmoor shirts! The insignia were so accurate and it was the closest thing to a mass produced uniform you could get for little money. I had the blue and the red, plus gold pajamas. Donmoor, Mego, Power Records, AMT and Gold Key. What a time to be alive.

By the way—the best way to fix the misaligned nacelle “droop” is really to lean back the saucer on the pylon.

It is simpler to do that and sand off the windows to have a new center line.

Wouldn't that make the secondary hull look like it was pointing downward relative the the saucer and nacelles?

That was never as jarring to my eye as the nacelle droop. Besides—it was an easier fix.

When I was a kid, I asked my dad to fix the model. I didn’t have much of a vocabulary then and I just said that it didn’t look right.
He leaned the saucer back and lowered it a tad. I then also noticed that the deflector dish pointed down—and he just said that allowed the planet to be scanned.

He relented, and shaved off some of the front of the secondary hull front—just below the pylon; he also sanded the top of the deflector assembly.

When done—the dish did point more or less straight forward.
I didn’t think to have him angle the shuttle bay down a bit—but it was good enough.

Sad to say that it doesn’t exist any more—I took it on a car ride to my grandma’s house where an unexpected visit by a cousin resulted in a “rud.”

Worse, I knew what was going to happen—but my pleas to keep it away from the little hellion were disregarded...
