What if Rios is a synth? And the ibn Majid was a Starfleet testbed for synthetics controlling a starship? Which would explain why all records of it were wiped away.
nice idea. if that's true why wasn't rios 'deactivated'?

For all we know He could be a hologram with a hidden portable emitter (the way the doctor was in Renaissance Man)

A hologram with a protecting force field around the portable emitter would be practically invulnerable.

'till now he wouldn't need a portable emitter - his holos are crowding his ship everywhere

... maybe he's the only holo that knows that. the other holos believing he's real

Given what Hugh said - did Seven return with voyager and find she was a non-person as an xB and they tried to throw her in a prison camp?

I doubt that. Seven had returned long before the events. But who knows what the writers have in mind.

I think there have been theories that everyone on the show is a synth.

Yep. But that's the type of show they've chosen to give us. The "wiping away all records of its existence" kinda gave me a red alert.

Also the shape that Picard notes the La Sirena is in.

Seven could well be furious that the Starfleet she trusted in the Delta Quadrant turned on former Borg after she got home to Earth. She watched drones experimented upon by Romulans or even Federation personnel and felt a betrayal that drove her to extreme measures to find some sort of justice for drones she could help.

Seven wasn't this aggressive in VOY. Something made her an avenger of the victimized and I doubt it was the Romulan supernova.

I really hope Picard doesn't turn into some cut-rate expy of nuBSG.
My thoughts exactly. This is starting to feel like NuBSG all over again, with synths (cylons) becoming indistinguishable from humans, and causing a massive attack on human homeworlds.

This has all happened before, this will all happen again.

Literally.

Oh my god - think if that was the end?

"Jean-Luc Picard?

Jean-Luc Picard died trying to save people right upto when the star went nova."

Fade to black [sound of internet breaking].

I think by the end of season 1 the synths will have redeemed themselves. That's the way it goes with ST at any rate.

It was dumb on BSG, but it really doesn't work in the Trekverse.

I mean, one thing Trek has always been clear about is people are people. It doesn't matter if they have bumpy foreheads, scaly skin, or look like rocks. We're all more or less identical when it comes to our internal consciousness, unless we're like godlike energy beings or something.

All of the sudden, there is a new class of people who are 100% indistinguishable externally from biological humanoids in every way, but they're somehow "synthetic" and thus need to be treated as monsters?

They have two more seasons to do. So I don't think it'll be that cut and dry.

It has helped America put Japanese-Americans in internment camps and try to restrict Muslims from traveling.

I think this thing will be solved by season 1. Next season it will be something else entirely. Like with Discovery, for example. I doubt we'll hear from Control again.
