Well, it’s ugly compared to the ship from TOS. The DSC Enterprise is just as ugly as the Discovery.

I think in its own right, as another ship or another version of the Enterprise (maybe between the NX-01 and the NCC-1701?), it is a decent design. It just isn't the TOS Enterprise and never will be.
Except he changed his mind and went on record agreeing with some points, and recognizing what Johnson was trying to do.And Hamill is on record as saying that he disagreed with every aspect of his character in TLJ. So my point stands.![]()
Nope. Just another refitIt just isn't the TOS Enterprise and never will be.

No way. Nothing is as ugly as the Discovery. I'd take the DSC Enterprise all day long over that ship. Heck, I'd even take the Galaxy class, the Ambassador class and random fan designs over the Discovery. The DSC Enterprise is just as ugly as the Discovery.
It will never top the TOS Enterprise. That is literally impossible. It just doesn’t top the Enterprise that’s been “the Enterprise” for the last 50+ years across 4 different Star Trek series
Please note that what the official history will reflect and what you choose to accept will be radically different.
Since, as it has been pointed out on numerous occasions, that this is all make believe, why would I care about what the official record says?
Besides, the official record clearly isn't permanent by any stretch of the imagination. We could have yet another version of the 1701 five or ten years down the road depending on the circumstances, that would be "official".
If it's all make believe and doesn't matter why would you be upset about it anyway?
Who's upset? There is the simple fact that the ship that appears in Discovery isn't the same ship that appeared in TOS/"The Cage". It isn't the ship that appeared on TV screens from 1966-69. It simply never can be.
Despite the fact that the producers of discovery (who control the Star Trek IP) have clearly stated it is the same ship and an earlier point in it's life and that they did change it, in the grand scheme of things, in a fairly minor sense..that means it can never be the same ship?
It is their version of the Enterprise. Just like it is their version of Pike, Spock and Number One. These aren't the people or elements that were on our screens from 1966-69, and no amount of corporate directives change that.
Jeffrey Hunter, Leonard Nimoy and Majel Barret have long since passed away.
You weak minded fool! The directors using an old Jedi mind trick!!Except he changed his mind and went on record agreeing with some points, and recognizing what Johnson was trying to do.

The actor situation is different as the cost of cgi'ng those actors (and gettong rights to their likenesses) is not remotely realistic. Its no problem bringing back the cgi tos enterprise from trek remastered or even rebuilding a tos bridge (there are tons of tos bridges around in fan conventions museums etc)You're right. Jeffrey Hunter, Leonard Nimoy and Majel Barret have long since passed away. The characters are being played by new actors and actresses, just like how Ewan McGregor now is Obi Wan instead of Alec Guinness

To be fair, taking DSC as it’s own thing, I like the show. But taking it as a prequel to TOS, the show utterly fails IMHO.
Should we disregard The Cage's Spock entirely?
