Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

Did I miss a memo? If not, it is canon. Which goes to show how much TOS canon and continuity mean to the current powers that be.

TAS is not canon (even if some of the elements are used in the live series) so cartoons don't count. Some elements maybe used in later TV show at discretion of the creators.

Poor writing, bad direction, a lack of support from TPTB, the lack of interest of Trek in General Public and of course Global Warming :)
Not really sure how the TPTB could be more supportive from CBS' end.

As for Trek being of interest to the General Public there is about 40ish years of stereotypes to break. Things like the Abrams films were on the right track, but then Paramount screwed it up.

I'm not even going to the touch global warming thing.

"If CBS really cares why they don't put new Trek on live TV" -- I'm so sick and tired of hearing this.

Anyway my point is that there are far more interesting topic to debate than how the position of the pylons on Disc Enterprise makes it non-cannon and it's an insult to fans (not this fan, I love the call back to Phase II Star Trek).

Yeah, well, people don't like things being behind a paywall. That's a complaint I get.

TPTB still are supportive. You know, a couple of new shows here and there...

Been going since TNG and TMP, so it's not going away. Any change is regarded as "an insult." Fans are fanatical (something odd about that phrasing ;) ) so those details mean a lot. And, change is hard.

All of this comes with the territory.

Yes, 'over the air' reception has always and still exists; but Cable/Satellite, etc. was NEVER free. (and yes, I know you're not the one complaining here - but yeah, never understood that argument from people who used to watch - or still watch - the various Star Trek series on Cable/Satellite.)

Here's a thought: if you don't want to see the shape of starship pylons debated how about you don't click a thread that is specifically about starship design?

Pretty much.

I missed the last season of Voyager and the first two seasons of Enterprise due to the fact my Sat TV provider didn't carry UPN and such..I had to have it videotaped (LOL) and mailed to me by my grandparents two weeks at a time.

Bittorent already existed in 2001 ;)
Ah the golden age of c-band wildfeeds and forum mods looking away when ENT discussions about a new episode started a day before it aired on UPN :)
