I am the only one who finds it absolutely hilarious when Americans refer to swear words with these childish euphemisms?

    I would've given "Remembrance" a '9', "Maps and Legends", I gave a '7'.

The pacing in this one is a bit disjointed, not sure how I feel about yet another secret organization. Though I loved watching Picard get reamed by the Admiral for essentially giving up. The one time where I thought 'fucking' actually worked within the context of a Trek conversation.

Did love seeing the Commodore rank again.

No......As an American who has lived OUT of the country half my life I find it a bit embarrassing. Hypocrytical when you look at the things Americans WILL ALLOW but don't you DARE say fuck or cunt.........and you'll go straight to hell if you show a nipple! I would love to see Americans watch "8 out of 10 Cats Do Countdown" in primetime to see their reaction.

Makes it easier to sell in the syndication market.

but he talks about the commodore as if he were an ally when he talks to another romulan, not like his boss.(I say he and no she because I think he changed his gender as part of the costume, Narek said he had a brother)

Anyway, show continues to be good and the plot is intriguing. But ultimately with these sort of scheme and conspiracy plots (especially ones involving fantastical scifi super tech) one cannot really tell whether they're any good until it is all revealed. Could be clever, could be stupid. I don't have problem with the pacing, except I wish it I could watch it all at once, I think this show would work better if it could be binged.

The comment upthread - that Kurtzman and Culpepper said this was originally supposed to be an opening two-parter, and they changed course to three episodes, adding additional footage (like the opener) explains much about the flaws of this episode I think. It feels like it has no structure because it's probably stitched together from scenes that belonged in episode 3, new content, and maybe some scenes that belonged in episode 1. I would also guess that some of the redundancy (like learning about how the Zhat Vash hate synths from Laris, then seeing it in action later in the episode) was because one scene or the other was added late in the game, to try and pad out the episode.

It's early, but I noticed that unlike Discovery, where episode lengths are "whatever" both of Picard's first two episodes were around 44 minutes. I wonder if CBS has come down on them harder for creating a more syndication-friendly product? That might explain why they had to go to three - they were thinking about two hour plus episodes to start, and CBS said LOL no - 44 mins - which left them in a lurch.

It is a frustrating problem to have......too much story to fit into 2 episodes, but not enough for 3. I think things are really going to pick up after they leave Earth at the end of episode 3 next week.

I know sometimes Vulcans and Romulans can be difficult to tell apart, but one usually can tell the difference between a Lady and a Gentleman.

Commodore Oh, is the former not the latter.

Oh man, I love that show.
Would never have even known about it if it weren't for Yt.
Jimmy Carr is one of my favorite modern Comics.

Let's hope so. Episode 3 trailer hints that Picard is going to say the magic word: 'Engage!!' in this episode.

I bet it would be the final line of the episode before his renegade ship goes into warp...

I wondered if the Mars attack prologue got added because they thought it would be too talky of an episode without it.

Is he and the crew technically renegade though? There was nothing in what the Admiral said that forbid him from doing it on his own.

The beginning part of the conversation between Picard and Admiral Clancy reminded me a bit of the conversation between Kirk and Admiral Morrow in Star Trek III, when Kirk was trying to get permission to go back to Genesis.

The Admiral didn't forbid him, but Commodore Oh or Romulan spy siblings might try to stop him and his crew once they figure out what his plan is.

I still don't think that makes them renegades.

It reminded me of the frequent verbal spats between Picard and Admiral Nechayev in TNG.

Clancy should be called Admiral B.....2.0 (can't say it but you got the idea :hugegrin:).
