I don't tend to like his own stuff like What We Do In The Shadows and found Korg somewhat annoying although I enjoyed Thor 3. His Mandalorian episode was good.

Kind of on the fence about this, but a change in approach with SW seems like a great idea, so...give it a go !

Love the idea and will love it until Kennedy fires him and replaces him with Justin Lin because of creative differences.

I'm still fine with Justin Lin doing a Star Wars movie.

Yeah, it's being reported in the trades, but this is a giant rumor. The Dude is super busy and has a full plate of current commitments. He's in post on his current movie, then committed to 'Thor 3' and then committed to 'Akiria' for Warners. Even if true, it would be several years before he can get to it.

Well, the article I saw just said he had been approached to do a movie, so it sounds like they haven't even started any actual talks yet. If this does happen it'll probably be fairly far down the line.

I'd love Neil Blomkamp, the guy who did District 9, to direct a SW movie. And while we've seen a war movie with Rogue One, I'd like to see other directors take SW into different directions, such as a Western.

Taika is a great talent, with a wacky sense of humor and a genuine artistic flair. I'd love him to remain involved with Star Wars.

The Mandalorian is basically a space western, and Solo literally did a train job, so I wouldn't call that a different direction.

Blomkamp's ideas for the Alien sequel were intriguing and it's disappointing that he never got to make it, but looking at his IMDB page, I think the guy is done. Elysium and Chappy both being duds might have painted him a one hit wonder with the big studios, so he's been stuck making only short films since.

He did a movie where Hitler is a sympathetic, imaginary friend. You should love it.

He's made only terrible movies since District 9

    Is that a joke?

In hindsight, D9 wasn't really THAT great either.

Clint Eastwood as a pretty hardnosed conservative. Yet he is also a brilliant director and a very good actor who has Iconic characters coming out of his but. It doesn't matter what a persons politics are. It only matters how good of a artist they are.

The plot holes are really on the nose the second time around.

These types of comments are exactly what I have grown to despise other fans and why I probably should just leave message boards whatsoever.

Episode VII - written & directed by Taika Waititi. Why not? How many times has Spiderman been rebooted in recent times? :D

Anyhoo... hell yes. Disney: give the man a pile of money and let him do his thing.
