Joker Origin Story Announced

How about waiting till the movie comes out and base it on the actual movie?
Well, I've been mostly complaining about the trailer for now. Though the fact that that flying through the air scene is even in the movie already suggests that the movie will have the MCU trademarked CGI battle at the end. Maybe the first 3 quarters of the movie will be more interesting, who knows.

...and Joker still has its acclaim, its nominations and success, no matter how much someone wishes that was not the case.

None of which would've happened if not for the MCU doing all the legwork for it first. Joker getting it's Nom was merely the result of all the hard work Black Panther did before it.

Serious question - are you delusional or does Disney pay you? How much would it take for someone to agree to lose their dignity like this?

I'm at a point that I find @Anwar 's continuing ramblings insufferable, but to simply put him on ignore is no solution, as he's driving the conversation. So many, myself included, have been successfully baited into replying to his ridiculous claims, and I have to wonder why.
We know what he's about, we know where he stands, we even know he's doing this as some kind of "revenge" for perceived persecution of the MCU, he's admitted as much in previous posts.
We've tried honest discussion, we've tried reason, we've tried calling out his double standards, we've tried calling out his persecution complex, we've even tried ridicule, and nothing works. At best we shut him up for a day or two, but then we're right back where we started, and this over each and every thread on Comic Book Movies that aren't MCU.

It might be time to ignore him. He won't change his behavior, he's enjoying his hatred of all things not-MCU too much. Nothing we say to him will change that, so maybe we shouldn't say anything at all to him. I hereby pledge not to respond to his posts anymore, in fact I'll try my best not to even read them, and I am calling on everyone else who wants to have honest and reasonable discussions on comic book movies again to do the same. It's an extreme measure, but it appears to me the only thing left to do.
I started doing that a long tine ago.

It's rather astonishing that comic book movies generate such a polarized atmosphere where discussion is swamped by all the "DC sux" and "MCU is crap" and "X-Men movies are ashamed of comics" and so on.

They're COMIC BOOK MOVIES. Sure, some aspire to something a little deeper than a Silver Age story from the 50s (some are even successful, like Joker). But none will rank in the ten best films of all time.

No.

I’d rather Oscars go to the real art films, whether or not they are accessible or in English. But I’d give them to the comic book blockbusters long before I gave them to to bloated historical biopics and sanctimonious issue dramas that usually get them.

I thought a few years ago everyone said the award shows were a joke and critics don't matter. I guess that changes when a favorite is up for an award.

It's like democracy.

The guy you like wins, "The System works!"

The guy who don't like wins, "Democracy doesn't work!"

The Oscars are fine as long as you realize what their audience is. Effete retirees who have been watching films for decades. People who want films that are smart but not challenging and cover familiar history and their own politics.

I’d like separate award shows. One to reward the pure fun movies like Endgame. One to reward the real art films, whether or not they are in the English language or are three hours of reflective tracking shots with strictly intellectual appeal and zero entertainment value.

Have a Best Picture for every audience so we can stop arguing about gate keeping the nominations.

This exists. The VMAs.
