I think Tarantino Trek just died.

Now SW is officially done for the time being (5 movies over 4years!), Paramount could/should really get on with QT Trek(director or not) as a way of making a real event/statement that Trek is b a c k. (especially after Beyond was such a non event). So there, that's my nexmas wish. for what its worth

Sure there's bad stuff, which you need for drama and for the good guys to go against, but wouldn't it be too much if Trek had an anal rape scene?

We have mind rape in Trek! At least twice!

And attempted physical rape in TOS, too.

I could be mistaken, but I suspect there's never been any great danger of seeing one of those in Trek and, further, that it will remain an extremely unlikely possibility for the foreseeable future, no matter whether or not a Tarantino Trek ever comes to pass.

Now, hypothesizing about "Wouldn't it be too much if Trek had an anal rape scene"?

That's probably more than this forum needs, it's unjustifiably alarmist besides, and it's practically guaranteed to be an unproductive avenue of discussion. How about we just drop that whole notion right here and now, 'K?

Sure. I just brought it up as the worst of the essential scenes in the movie that QT said his Trek movie would be modeled after, cause I'm worried about Trek going that far down. But we'll see what they come up with - if it happens at all. Till then, I rest my case ;)

Spock did it to Varalris on the bridge with everyone watching. That was disgusting and my least favourite moment in all of Trek. What was Nimoy thinking?

When are people going to get over this purity bullcrap regarding the franchise and how Roddenberry is viewed? How do you know that Roddenbery wouldn't like this, or that Roddenberry (if he could write like Tarantino) wouldn't write something like how Tarantino did Pulp Fiction?

This is what Roddenberry was really like:

And about whatever 'vision' that people fear would be wrecked by a Tarantino movie, here's this also.

When I asked a few posts up if we could just drop that whole tangent, I was kinda expecting that we could just... you know... drop it. Don't do that thing where you pretend not to have seen what I said and then try to up the ante besides.

Enough, already. End of "dirty Trek" sidebar in this thread. Now.

If you find you absolutely must make further comment about it, please put that in a blog post, far away from this forum.

    • Add QT's "Feature Presentation" bumper to the start
    • Spock and Uhura could have a knife fight instead of an argument?
    • More blood & at least one disembowelment added somewhere
    • A few more scenes where characters drive around just listening to music
    • Can we have Sulu and Chekov wearing matching black suits?
And I think we've got a hit on our hands!

    AVATAR says hi. :)

Going back a ways, I remember there was a period, during DOCTOR WHO's long, sixteen-year hiatus, where I just tuned out the endless stream of rumors and reports about reviving the show since they never stopped coming and yet never seemed to lead to anything. Seemed like there was a new rumor every sixth months or so--for more than decade.

Meanwhile they've been talking about remaking LOGAN'S RUN, on and off, since the Nineties at least . . . .

Just read the Trektoday article. I think it's for the best. I find Tarantino a little overrated anyway and thought Once Upon A Time in Hollywood was just ok, if a little bloated.
