Spoilers Picard Prequel "Children of Mars"

Do they also celebrate first contact between the Vulcans and the Andorians then? Or the Vulcans and the Tellarites? You can't have the Federation without all four after all.

They might well celebrate these dates on Andoria and Tellar. But this is Earth's first contact we're discussing, and they're celebrating it on Earth. If you have a Google calendar, you'll note that it will list certain national holidays, then indicate the country, e.g. Independence Day (USA), Victoria Day (Canada), etc... Maybe this one said "First Contact Day (Earth)" on everyone's subspace GooglAmazoDisney Calendar.

Re: 24th century civilian fashion...

Good God.

I really dislike all those contemporary collars on many of the Picard clothes. And there was even a tie! That is one thing that will definitely not last that long. There are some nice looking costumes too, but overall I really wish they had been more adventurous and imaginative.

Star Trek V corrected so much of the fashion faux pases of the TOS Movie Era. Yeah, they were late '80s jeans and denim jackets but at least they didn't look like they came out of a deleted scene of Logan's Run.

Eh, I don't know... I just rewatched The Chase after God knows how long, and the poor man died wearing the ugliest pair of pants I've ever seen.

Don't we just see him at the controls of his shuttle? Maybe he wasn't wearing pants at all? :shifty:

The Richard Kiley scientist in DS9 may be the one you thought died at the controls of a shuttlecraft.

Possibly. It is possible he wasn't wearing pants. Is that the one with the protomatter terraforming project? Or something along those lines (maybe stabilizing a star)? It sounds familiar, but I can't quite place my finger on it.
