Spoilers Picard Prequel "Children of Mars"

No, no. This thread has already confirmed it that the production team doesn't actually care about Trek. More than that, it demonstrates that they are grossly incompetent at their jobs, as well as working very hard to insult every single fan by their deliberate ignorance.

I trust you see why that is the only conclusion.

Fuck me.

Why? Short Treks tend to use assets on hand.
Because release date of this and first episode of Picard are very close to each other. They were made roughly at the same time. Reasonably some assets from Picard should have been available for the Short Treks if such assets exist.

I didn't see my precious TNG-era ships.

FESTIVAL!!! FESTIVAL!!!

(Literal depiction of how ridiculous this thread has become)

Seriously though, I've been pretty spoiler-free. I have no idea the significance of these ships that bomb Mars or how this will relate to the new series. I'm pretty excited to see how this all ties together.

Maybe. We don't actually know what was made available or what was available.

Honestly, my contribution represents all the thoughtfulness and respect that the topic of "what kind of ships appeared in a 6-second fx shot of a short" deserves.
Indeed. In fact, there is very limited discourse as any opinions that it might not indicate a laisse faire attitude on the part of the production are flat out ignored.

So, yeah, it comes across as "They're ruining Star Trek forever!"

Now. Some people expressed dissatisfaction about a a certain detail in the production that did not bother you. But you and certain others just couldn't let it go. You need to come up with bizarre excuses for the thing you didn't care about anyway in the first place, and belittle people who do care. Like you are doing now, with this bizarre hyperbole. Yeah, I get that you don't give fuck about visuals, but how about you just accept that to some people aesthetics and visual continuity matter instead of mocking them for having standards?

I'm not rioting. I'm just annoyed. It may be only a few seconds of the short but it was the most memorable part of it. I've always liked seeing the ships and I'm sad that we didn't get to see some era appropriate ones here, whatever the reason.

I also rather liked to have seen First Contact (or STO if they were being adventurous) era ships than TNG ones. :)

If it was just a complaint, that's fine. But it's not. It is a complete and total slandering of the production team that has extended to the point that they basically "don't care" that I find rather appalling. That's a bizarre excuse that I attempted to provide alternative reasons for why.

And, yes, I do give "a fuck" about visuals. But, not the point that it ruins my enjoyment of an episode.

They did not care enough to do this properly. This is self evident, as we saw what we saw. I doesn't mean 'they ruined Star Trek or any silly hyperbole like that' but they sure fucked up, and it is perfectly fair to point that out and hope that it doesn't happen again.

It didn't ruin my enjoyment, I said I quite like the story and how it was told. You just fixated on the one thing I said I didn't like about, just like you always do.

Who needs CGI. Just use some stock footage. A nice shot of the Enterprise-B from "Generations". Shots of all the people running like crazy in Star Trek 09 at Starfleet Academy when the drill thing was being used to attack earth. Cut to a Runabout or shuttle flyby.

It is self-evident to you. It isn't to me. Don't have enough information to make that conclusion, in my view. I see no reason to accuse them of apathy. Mileage and all that jazz.

Ah, that's why it has been discussed for pages on end is because people enjoyed it? That's why any arguments that support the production team are flatly ignored?

Yeah, not seeing the logic in that.

CBS has money and resources. If they wanted to have 24th centyry ships there, they could have had them there. So someone, at some point didn’t care. I don't know who, nor does it even matter, I just want them to do better next time.

And it is perfectly natural that the discussion is mostly about the aspects people disagree about or have issues with. If everyone agrees that some aspect was good, there ultimately isn't terribly much to talk about.

At this point, it is agree to disagree. The "discourse" would rather accuse the production team of apathy than consider alternatives and focus on the VFX than things actually enjoyed.

That's fine. VFX sucked, Mars sucked and Picard will suck. There, got that out of the way...:sigh::weep::wah:
