And CBS is still letting BellMedia have Canadian cable rights via CTV Sci-Fi Channel(ex-Space Channel)...and BellMedia is therefore rendering all their Trek stuff subject to CRTC rules re: swearing. However loose those rules are becoming up here...

Yeah but I find it unlikely that CBS would edit the episodes for them. That would be up to CTV to do.

Season 1 aired before the watershed hour, and people complained about the violence/language and so Bell was fined for it.

Season 2 stayed at the same time slot, so I dunno.

And words only have the power that we give to them.

Adding bleeps and other censoring has given certain worlds power.
That might not have been the original idea.

Finnish TV doesn't usually do bleeps.
Except sometimes when a foreign program is on TV, bleeps on a foreign language are silly.

OT: Did you know that the five-second delay was created for one man -- Richard Pryor?

In 1975, Lorne Michaels wanted Richard to host the premiere episode of Saturday Night Live.

Suffice to say, NBC executives were horrified at the thought of allowing then-raunchy Richard on their airwaves.

They came up with a compromise -- what we know today as the five-second delay. He is the reason the delay exists.

Its like a 15-sec delay now. Blame it on a certain “wardrobe malfunction”

However, that doesn’t preclude CBS from making
completely different designs for the ships if they ever choose to show them in STP. They own the designs but aren’t beholden to use them.
I have a feeling they might stick to the novel's design for Titan. Literally every time it's ever been seen it's been that design, they even had built a phsyical model that was at the one of the original versions of Star Trek: The Exhibition, and it even included a video clip with Wil Wheaton and Tim Russ in character as Wesley Crusher, and Tuvok. I'm still pissed that the version we got here was one without the Titan stuff.
The one thing I noticed in the trailer that I'm curious about, is the scene where we see Dahj being burned. That definitely looked unpleasant.

I’ve seen some people around the net think the Romulan/Vulcan (this is why we need different makeup) in the yellow starfleet uniform is played by Tamlyn Tomita.

Why should Vulcans and Romulans look any different? They only split off - what? - 2,000 yrs ago or less? That is nowhere near long enough for speciation to occur, particularly in a technologically advanced society with reduced natural selection. They should look identical to each other.

Easier for the audience to tell them apart without dialogue doing it for them.

Also easier for themselves. Looking different ought to be technologically trivial - but it might be culturally and politically absolutely crucial.

I guess in-universe I could maybe rationalize it as the bumpy foreheads were a particular racial subtype (Probably not the anthropologically appropriate expression, I grant you) of Vulcans and they banded together and left as a group. Maybe some of the smooth foreheads also in along for the ride.

The problem with that theory is that nobody in-universe seems to be able to tell a bumpy foreheaded Romulan from a Vulcan. So then you have to assume that maybe some of those bumpy foreheads stayed on Vulcan as Vulcans.

This is exactly why we should not speak of it with outsiders.

Since when has logic applied to Trek?

Wow, ever since TNG introduced a different look for the Romulans to differentiate them from the Vulcans, I've seen non-stop bitching about how it was pointless, idiotic, insulting, flagrantly against Gene's Vision, and the cause of cancer. Now they've gone back to having them look the same, and there's bitching about that. Ah, Trek Fandom.
