Season Two is Go

WTF is "Axnar"? :wtf:

Are the fans who prefer a known quantity like Picard now less than "true fans"? :shifty:
I was making a joke. It is very telling though about Midnight Edge that this sounds like one of their real theories. Or maybe me as well that I might believe it but lets ignore that part. Jason

I wonder how fans would react if she got really involved - and then quit again. TNG all over again.
If you read her description as to why she left TNG, you'd find that it wasn't exactly something that she wanted to readily do.
The Producers (Gene in particular) made it quite clear that she (as well as Gates & Marina) was pretty much there for 'window dressing'.
That wouldn't really change till well into the third season. (even then it was hit and miss)

Ms. Crosby figured out early that TNG at the time, wasn't really going to advance her career forward and she decided to move on.

Though Chabon stepping down as the showrunner, to work on his own series, is kind of a bummer.

I'll wait until I see the end product before deciding on him leaving being a good or bad thing.

I just read that Chabon will stay on as Executive producer until he transitions full time into a new role later next year. I'm bummed about that. I was getting excited about what he was going to come up with (mainly through hearing how highly regarded he was). I hope I enjoy the first season and as long as Stewart wants to do this, that's really what counts. If it's a 3 year plan, I wonder why CBS just didn't announce the third season too and give the creators free reign to tell the story.

I'm really excited for Picard but I don't want to fall into the trap of being disappointed. Hope for the best and all that.

A lot depends on Stewart (Does he have the energy for anything beyond three years?)

Yep. Yar was my 2nd fav character in TNG and her demise was one reason (of many) that I quit watching the show back in the late 80s.

Seriously?

I mean, different strokes for different folks, but Yar was so wooden in the first season - even more than the rest of the cast (even ones which later turned out to be good, like Michael Dorn).

I thought she was pretty terrible as an actress in most of her returns to the show as well. I give a partial exception for Yesterday's Enterprise, but even in that episode she was outacted by her disposable romance of the week.

The show is doomed! Cancel it now! It's what the True Fans demand!

Midnight's Edge Throughout History (if it existed all along):

1968: "Star Trek is doomed! Cancel it now! It's what the True Fans demand!"
1987: "Star Trek is doomed! Cancel it now! It's what the True Fans demand!"
1995: "Star Trek is doomed! Cancel it now! It's what the True Fans demand!"
2000: "Star Trek is doomed! Cancel it now! It's what the True Fans demand!"
2017: "Star Trek is doomed! Cancel it now! It's what the True Fans demand!"
2020: "Star Trek is doomed! Cancel it now! It's what the True Fans demand!"

Yeah, seriously. I was also only 16 at the time so my taste has evolved a bit since then... ;)
Can't say I'd object to her character returning in some capacity though.

I was eight when the show came on, so that stuff wasn't on my mind yet really.

Just stick an "O" on the end of the original two season titles, and there's an actor in the wings waiting to take over

"Emergency Acting Hologram. Please state the British Thespian I am replacing."
