Its definitely not healthy. Recording or viewing that hate.
I enjoyed it. I didn't see it multiple times, and I think I have a DVD of it on which I haven't yet removed the shrink-wrap, but then again, it's been a long time since I've seen a movie multiple times. Well, other than (of course) seeing Gibson & Coe's Footprints on the Moon* every Apollo Day, and seeing Edwards & Stone's 1776 every Independence Day.
And it's certainly not even remotely as disappointing as Tron: Legacy was (and I did see that at least twice, even though it's not even remotely as good as the original, once just to see if Daft Punk quoted even so much as one recognizable measure of Wendy Carlos's iconic score for the original**).

The seemingly 5 billion YouTube or hell even so called news articles that give "there opinions" as if there opinions has more weight because it's on YouTube or some news site... It's an opinion! As in every post on this site! No more weight than me or spagetti, or campe.. All of us have our own opinions because we're all different.

Where does "Last Jedi" EVER say that "nothing matters"?
Some people complain that all of JJ's "great story threads" were thrown out, altered and/or ignored by TLJ.
Which is fundamentally not true.
But even if it WERE true....hey, JJ - You don't get to set up a bunch of dangling story threads you had NO CLUE how to resolve and weren't planning on every coming back to yourself anyway and then complain that someone went and cleaned up your mess. Fuck off.

It's 5 hours?! I couldn't even begin to image what would make a person want to spend 5 hours complaining about a movie. If I don't like a movie the most time I'll spend complaining about it is 5 minutes, and then I move on to something I like.
you agree that it takes longer to discuss a scene sometimes than the actual length of a scene. I could talk for an hour about the courtroom strategy Kafee used in the final scene of A Few Good Men.. despite the fact that the scene itself is probably like 7 minutes.
I'm not saying you should watch it. I am saying that your point that the video is longer than the film and is therefore invalid is completely bogus. Everything takes longer when analyzed.
If you are literally spending two minutes for every minute of screen time and examine every minute of the movie, maybe you should get a life. Criticisms are fine. Choose your worst ten. Make it an hour if you have to. Then move on with your life. This is pathetic.
I'm not the biggest fan of MauLer.. so I don't totally disagree.. but the idea of a deep dive video essay taking a while is actually not only not surprising.. but kind of interesting.
I have a fairly monotonous home business, requires assembly of a product, shipments, and database work. I often play music while working. But playing videos is good too. I usually don't play something like a new movie I have not seen before because I don't want to lose my concentration and pay more attention to the screen than to the work. So watching deep dive analysis of things I've seen, franchises I love.. sometimes the longer the better, really helps me with the work. So I think using the word "pathetic" is a bit on the harsh side

The amount of hate is pathetic. And I thought Plinketts TPM review was bad
I respectfully disagree. I think that spending five hours whining about a movie is harsh.
The "meta" aspects were the parts of the film I liked the most. My issues have always been with the execution (structurally speaking). I think RJ's intent was good, but maybe he bit off more than he could chew and probably should have brought in someone else to help write it. (Sounds familiar.) I think the "this doesn't matter" statement illustrates this perfectly. The theme of the film is literally the exact opposite. But it's clear people have trouble picking up on that.
I do have a bit of a theory though. I think a reason why a little of people "hate" it is because that "meta" aspect completely shifts the "framework" (I really have no idea what the right word here would be.) of the story. What I mean is, for such a long time Jedi was the end of the story. (And by story, I mean the "Skywalker Saga.") In the way back, the prospect of new films was never a reality. So post-Jedi events were mostly academic - even after Zahn came around. And then once new films did start to become reality, I think most people assumed it was going to be the PT even before Lucas officially announced them. So for 30 years, Jedi was the end of the story.
And even with TFA, I don't think people felt "betrayed" because it was just another Adventure. It has an almost epilogue feel to it. However, TLJ so directly states that Jedi is not the end of the story and the OT is just the middle of the saga in a way TFA just never did. And I think that's where this feeling of "it doesn't matter" comes from.

I don't know how much clearer he could be. The theme of the movie is quite literally stated by the wise and all-powerful Yoda: "We are what they grow beyond". What does he need to do, hold a flashing neon sign that says "THIS IS THE THEME!"?
That's the thing. It's an abstract platitude. People don't go to Star Wars movies for abstract platitudes.
I found it very interesting. And enjoyable. SW has grown beyond itself at times.

Look, I once attended a university lecture on ALL of Kubrick's work and it lasted just over an hour.
@Flying Spaghetti Monster , I can't stress enough how unhealthy is recording and watching something similar.
And by the way, it wasn't just someone who rambled for one hour on how much he liked/disliked Kubrick. He talked about how innovative and influential he was, his artistic evolution through his films, the use of light and music and so on. He was a university professor, and even he was not so arrogant as to think that people would be so interested in hearing only about his personal opinions for an hour.
It takes a special kind of megalomania to think that the rest of humanity is willing to listen to your very personal opinions for FIVE HOURS on how much you did not like a single movie.
