I'm excited for any iteration of the Kelvinverse, so this sounds great for me!

Bumblebee wasn't a failure. There's even a sequel in development.

It may have been less than expected, but it still made 3x its budget and was very successful overseas, while competing directly with Aquaman, which was a runaway hit. I did hear those rumblings about adding Bayisms, too, but I hope they don't. Bumblebee was the first Transformers movie I saw in theaters since the first Bay one, and it's because it didn't have those Bayisms.

Hawley is in a similar place to where Joss Whedon was when he was selected to helm The Avengers. Successful and well-regarded TV work under his belt, and a previous movie that didn't do well. Matching his talent with a well known property like Star Trek could be a great idea.

Joker just proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that audiences will accept an out-of-continuity movie. So Trekkies are just gonna have to fluster about timelines for awhile longer.

I think fans or open to idea as long as it's established in a alternate timeline. The cannon issues tend to revolve around protecting the prime universe than outright change. Though I do feel their is fear of leaving the prime it is fear based less on canon and more about it loosing it's soul and not feeling like a Trek show. Jason

This is good news. But Tarantino Trek is still the one I like to see.

Hawley is talented no doubt but I think it may be a chance to start afresh with him. do a proper reboot again like DC is doing with Batman.

I am not sure if the Pine, Quinto, Urban and Saldana cast have more to offer to anyone or they can just to a TNG reboot as a follow up.

I like Hawley, but have had more than enough of those movies and that cast.

I'm surprised Bad Robot are producing, I guess their agreement with Warner Bros isn't exclusive?
The article says that one is still being developed. Way back when, it was thought both the SJ Clarkson ST4 and Tarantino movies would feature the Kelvin cast.

Wow literally never heard of this guy before but at least ST4 is back on (and at least Tarantino Trek is mentioned as still happening)

yes I guess SW being finished next month (at least for the foreseeable cinema future) as made Paramount think 'hey don't we have something like that laying around not doing much?' and Endgame has kind of wrapped up the 'Marvel saga' for a while..(obviously more coming but they'll have to build up over a few years to approach anything on the scale of the all dominant Infinity Saga)
maybe its no coincidence this ST4 news has come on the heels of Terminator bombing (no planned Dark Fate trilogy happening now. same as Genisys/Salvation - a trilogy of planned trilogies). and yes maybe ST4 will be something more TMPy than the usual khan like villain out for revenge (and the Tarantino movie can do all the nostalgia stuff)

    Never say never.

I said it before, things are more complex behind the scenes than we might believe so you can never know what the future brings. As people were speculating about kelvin trek being dead, those in power probably were already discussing different plans behind the scenes. You can never know.

Star Trek.. 14.. Please get it right... St 4 was the voyage home.. and a great movie..

As said, very optomistic on 14, they have a clean slate and can do whatever they want.
SO, my question is, What kind of contracts do the actors have now?? Is it just for this 1 more? or is it another multipule?? I ask because the new guy could set up a new saga or trilogy.

I'm intrigued, and relieved Tarantino isn't involved.

it now feels distance. the 4th movie should have come out in 2018 or 2019. when would noah's trek movie come out? 2021-2022? 6 -7years after star trek beyond.

Paramount would need to spend 100 of millions in advertising to bring people back for a series that started in 2009 and Paramount seems to always want to slash budget with star trek films.

Probably better to do a made for tv movie, would be a lot cheaper as well. Recast the crew, put it on TV or a streaming service, then watch some of the fans scream with horror till they shit their pants!
