Spoilers The Mandalorian | Disney+ | Streaming Nov. 12

So I wonder if the Yoda baby means we might actually start to learn some stuff about his people, maybe even get a name?
I believe exploring them was a no no when George Lucas was in charge, but that doesn't necessarily still have to be the case now.
Isn’t he a Gelfling? :)

Oh, one other thing I forgot to mention before that might be of interest to Supernatural fans, the armorer is played by Emily Swallow, who played Amaya aka The Darkneess in Season 11.

She still is playing Amara. She was on the previous episode. Giving God the cold shoulder.

The whole point of the character is that he is the mysterious gunman with no name and no face, so showing any more than the short flashbacks we got while he was at the armorer would kind of defeat that.

A "mysterious gunman" with no personality, no history, no goals, and almost no dialogue kind of defeats the purpose of having a rooting interest in your lead character and series.

We don't know for a fact that the 50 years the bounty has been active was just for the baby, maybe it was originally for it's parents, and they're gone so now it's just for the baby.

Yeah, we do. The show literally tells us that. It's meant to be a surprise. Mando says, "I thought it was supposed to be 50." and IG says, "Well, different species grow at different rates."

That's the show specifically explaining to the audience how the fake-out worked and because we all know Yoda is old, we're supposed to accept it.

Not a fan of westerns, I take it? The trope is pretty common across genres, honestly, but you see it a ton there.

Also, it's the first episode. There is time for backstory and stuff later. I thought this did a nice job of setting a tone, and getting at the bare bones of the character without a lot of fuss. He's a professional of dubious morals and steady aim. So far that's really all we need to know.

Rumour
Allegedly Jon worked with George on the Yoda species, including creating a name for them

Not really, no. One need only look at Boba Fett's rise to popularity, plus all the Westerns in history, plus samurai stories. "Mysterious gunman" is a foundational storytelling typography and has functioned for years of getting people invested.

So, respectfully, no, it doesn't defeat the purpose.

He is pretty much "the man with no name".

I do wonder if some fans will struggle with it because of lore that exists only in their head.
This will always be the case.

Hmmm....your honor, exhibits A...
I thought he had enough personality and goals to get me interested.
...and B.
Just finished this. I really found myself engaged. Excited to see where this goes!

Cool, I hope that's true.
So where did all the goons guarding baby Yoda come from? Is somebody with some very deep pockets taking care of the baby?
