Spoilers The Mandalorian | Disney+ | Streaming Nov. 12

I kinda felt a little lost watching that episode. It starts and you’re just dropped right in and I think the only kind of backstory we get was a 2 second flashback to this bounty hunter’s childhood and a mention that the Empire fell. Other than that I kinda had a hard time understanding the flow of this story. The second half was better and finding out about the Yoda Baby has me excited to come back but I wish they had done a better introduction or something.

I didn’t hate it and my reaction was to give it a few more episodes. I was surprised at the run time. I thought the first episode would be at least an hour. I think it needed to be at least an hour to better introduce this series.

That's a good point. It was very short and they should have used that extra runtime to flesh out the main character and give us a reason to actually care about him. Flashbacks or just him doing something interesting.

Despite the short runtime, the episode felt draggy. There wasn't enough actual story, the plotting was extremely straightforward to the point of being simplistic.

That 50 year line may sound odd but we don’t know how long the years are.

It was definitely odd. If Yoda was very old and dying at 900, figure they live ten times the span of a normal human. So at 50, you'd be a five year old, not what looked like a baby of less than a year.

A species that's literally a helpless baby for more than fifty years is going to be in trouble.

I was finally able to watch it once things were back up and running, and I enjoyed it. It didn't totally blow me away, but it was still good.

The whole point of the character is that he is the mysterious gunman with no name and no face, so showing any more than the short flashbacks we got while he was at the armorer would kind of defeat that. I have a feeling they'll slowly feeding us a few more bits and pieces about him as we go along.
I liked what we got with him, he's a badass, but not totally heartless.
I'm really liking the look and feel of this, they really did a great of capturing that darker, grittier feeling that we got from parts of the movies, like the Tattooine Cantin, or Maz's.
The bounty being a baby Yoda was huge surprise, and definitely opens up some very interesting possibilities

We don't know for a fact that the 50 years the bounty has been active was just for the baby, maybe it was originally for it's parents, and they're gone so now it's just for the baby.

I've seen some people giving this mixed reviews, but I really liked the first episode. The story was interesting, the action was good, I liked the main character, and the twist of what the bounty is was shocking. Overall, I thought it was a good start to the series, and I can't wait to see more of it.

The first episode was quite good. Not completely mind blowing or anything, but solid TV. I liked that they just dropped us into the world without a ton of exposition. They've clearly got backstory to tell, but hopefully it feels more organic coming out as the story moves along.

First off, the show looks great. It definitely captures that lived in vibe of the original trilogy. I love the costume for the Mandalorian. Just a great look. And Pascal brings a surprising amount of personality to the character with just his voice. He's got a little bit of sass in him, this one, but he's just doing a job.

I'm really hoping we get some cool stuff with the Mandalorians as a people in this. Seems like such a great opportunity to build on what Clone Wars and Rebels have set up, while still doing their own thing in this new corner of the universe. The quick visit to what apppeared to be a Mando enclave, and our first look at the Armorer certainly feed into my expectations. I want to know more about this culture and how it's people are fairing.

And that ending. I would never have guessed that one. I was in for the run of this anyway, but that certainly has my attention. I'm definitely looking forward to the second episode later this week.

I'm curious if we're going to see more of IG-11 and Kuiil? I was expecting to see a lot of both characters, but they both seemed to be done by the end of this episode.
Pretty everywhere I'm going they're saying the baby is 50 years old, so I guess the parents thing is probably a bad guess on my part.

So I wonder if the Yoda baby means we might actually start to learn some stuff about his people, maybe even get a name?
I believe exploring them was a no no when George Lucas was in charge, but that doesn't necessarily still have to be the case now.
