Actually, no. As long as you make more than you spend you've made a profit. That's the definition. Whether your expenditure actually leads to anything being produced is beside the point. What makes the product important is if you want to make the profit legally. Loan sharks, bookies, protection racketeers and, of course, con artists, all make profits without producing a damn thing.

I find it sad that you felt the need to call Anas Abdin "that middle-eastern guy" instead of taking 2 seconds to look up his name or even refer to him as the "tardigrades guy".

Different type of profit but the acquisition of assets becomes property that one could derive future income from.

I have to wonder, though, with all the extraneous expenses they’ve gone through, including the immense amount of money in the lawsuits, are they really making a measurable profit?

Today's donor email "Be one of the first 30 people to buy an Ares Studios coffee mug from the 2017 Indiegogo (the one that moved them from California to Georgia), and get a free patch." AP, you have enough of my money, and you're not getting anymore of it since you couldn't manage the money I gave you already the way it should've been.

I had to read this email 3 times just to make sure I was reading it right. I guess since he can't sell Axanar merchandise, sell Ares Studios merchandise instead. I wish it would stop. I'm no longer interested in AP's version of Axanar (I know I've said that before on here.)

I suppose you could always unsubscribe on their website, but it probably would be ignored and you'll get spammed anyway.

Even with rent for the various studios warehouses and paying for some of the "pro bono" legal representation, there was $2.1 million raised around the time of the lawsuit, with additional fundraising and corporate sponsorship since then - could easily still have several hundred grand remaining.

So, I'll say it. How long from an announcement to filming? Not years anyway! ;)

Reading the 5th November update for Interlude fundraiser, it seems there was a "glitch" on the Axanar shoot and patches were not sewn onto the uniforms:

You, too, can own a not-screen-used copy of a patch that was neither screened nor used.

"I was sad, but it also meant less sewing for seamstress Karen Shuey". Lucky Karen!

Gosh, for a brief interlude, even double-sided tape can hold a patch in place.

Damn!! Now they are going to have to have a fund-raiser to CGI (add) the patches onto the uniforms in post!

Just got an email - Ares Studios has applied for 501c3 status.
