I thought I had read that "Sky's the Limit", the IDW TNG mini comic that comes as an exclusive in the just-released "Picard Movie & TV Collection" boxed set of Blu-Rays (four movies and two two-parters), was also intended to tie in with the new "Picard" TV series and "Picard: Countdown", but it seems to be a seventh season Maquis story that simply takes its title from Picard's last line in "All Good Things..."

(Pocket Books already had a short story collection "The Sky's the Limit" some years ago).

Is it possible they might include it with the Picard Countdown TP collection? Or is the one-shot about Picard and Jack Crusher on the Stargazer more likely? Could they include both?

Does anyone know the release date for issue #1? The IDW website doesn't show this info.

Also, in what formats will it be available? The last Countdown series I bought was for Into Darkness (and before that it was the original Countdown in '09, which I had on my phone!).

According to Comixology #1 is out November 27, #2 is out December 25, and #3 is January 29.
As for formats, it's at least being released in a individual paper issues, digital comics, and I don't know if it's been officially announced yet but I would assume it'll also come out a paper Trade Paperback collection, and a digital collection.

I recall hearing somewhere that in the real world, rank becomes less of a progression at the Admiral/General level, with the position they're assigned to at any given time dictating their degree of admiral-ness, so it's not uncommon to bounce around a bit.

Got it on my pull list. I hope it isn't that bad.

What makes you think it won't be good?

Not really a fan of Star Trek comics. Most have pretty poor story telling

I actually proposed this in another thread about PIC that unlike other officer & enlisted ranks, admiral ranks are by appointment, and that one could go straight from captain to a three- or four-pip admiral to fill a particular position.

Roddenberry himself said once, about Starfleet, in an interview, "Rank is more like a job description".

That doesn't really make sense since we saw tons of people with the same rank doing different jobs.

Wow that is incredibly bad. Really looking forward to the story though.

That looks...horrible? I’m surprised they accepted that as a cover. But I suppose it doesn’t matter—I’m still buying.

Could just be a placeholder. I'm hoping it's just a placeholder.

Boy, five bucks an issue is kinda steep.

A lot of comics are at least $3 or $4 these days. We've come a long way from when they were just $0.10.

The Picard comics will be longer than the “regular” monthly comics, hence the slightly higher price point.
