*SPOILERS FOR THE GAMMA QUADRANT ARC*

I just finished STAR TREK: ONLINE'S "Gamma Quadrant" arc and I have to say it is a fully good video game in its own right and one that I would have happily purchased as a stand-alone DS9 game. It was amazing having all of the old gang back together again with Odo, Kira, Garak, Weyound, Martok, Quark, Rom, Leeta, and Doctor Bashir being enough of the cast to simulate a pretty decent series of episodes.

Nog's presence throughout is something that leaves me a little misty-eyed and I have to say that I'm glad Aron Eisenberg did these before he passed on. I hope they make a memorial to the man in the game somehow like a Nog statue in-universe or something. It's kind of weird his character died in the "hypothetical" Season 8 that they talked about on the DS9 Documentary I just watched too.

The Hur'q Arc was really done and I enjoyed the extended homage to Aliens. They're vicious, nasty, and brutal characters that were a worthy follow-up to the Iconians. I also feel like this is a good wrap-up for the "redemption" of the Dominion. Certainly, the Founders now actually have evidence that Solids would be willing to protect them without mind-control.

I'm 100% convinced the Female Changeling isn't dead because, really, impalement doesn't strike me as a way you can kill a liquid organism. The game seems to have the same belief. On the other hand, it is a decent way to write her out too in a grand enough fashion.

I like that she was able to tie-together so many Star Trek Online plots as well: The Tzekethi, the Hur'q, and the Feklhri. I actually like that the Fek'lhri are tied to the Dominion as while I didn't mind a "supernatural" explanation for the Klingons (who live in Fantasyland more than the Federation), it gives an out for someone who wanted to know why an army of demons suddenly attacked Kronos.

The best of the adventures was, of course, Quark's Lucky Seven and I think it's probably the best in the entire game. I felt a little cheated at the end of the adventure because if you're a Klingon PC like myself then recovering the Sword of Khaless is an EPIC adventure and having it stolen from you then sold to Martok cheapens the thing RP-ing wise. On the other hand, getting one over on a certain Iconian was well worth it.

If I had any issues at the end, I also felt that the invocation of T'Kuvma and the Beacon of Khaless was a little bit iffy. I actually LIKE Discovery and am looking forward to playing through the Discovery campaigns. However, T'Kuvma was a radical fundamentalist terrorist Klingon devoted to driving out the Federation and aliens. It's a little weird to invoke him to save the Federation and Dominion as he'd loathe what the Klingon Empire has become. Also, Martok is listed alongside Voq, T'Kuvma, and L'Rell. Frankly, Voq royally sucked at his job and if anyone should be in that list it should be your Dahar Master.

Still, badass to have Martok unite the Klingon Empire that way.

9/10 and a great faux-season of DS9.

Gamma Quadrant was one of my favorites as well. As opposed to the Delta Quadrant season, which was WAY too long and... well... Voyager-centric.

I felt Tim Russ showed he would have made a pretty good captain in his own show but there was a bit off about that.

Also, the Kobali are horrible and why are we helping them again?

Wondered the same exact thing. They lied to everyone about stealing corpses for their resurrection thing and the Waadwaar had every right to be pissed off that their dead were being taken and desecrated. They were toolbags too, though, and I really didn’t want to have anything to do with either of them. It was sad that those missions were so absurdly long. But yes, I found Tuvok to be an excellent character to work with, especially during the Solonae Dyson Sphere campaign. I do hope we get to see him again in future seasons - and ONLY him from the Voyager group.

It gets more screwed up when you note while the Kobali are only harvesting the dead, they are holding the Vaadwaur living (including children) in hopes of them eventually dying in stasis to be harvested.

Yep. I know we shouldn’t judge other cultures by our own standards but dammit there’s just something so profoundly icky about the whole Kobali Death Cult thing.

It gets even weirder:

1. Are they literally raising the dead but somehow brainwashing them into forgetting their past?
2. Are they more like the Elachi and using dead bodies as hosts for their young?

Either way, it's now worse.

So, typical Klingon then? ;) (See STIII:TSFS; TNG episodes "Sins of the Father, "Reunion", "Redemption", "Unification" <-- Which talks of Gowron re-writing the history of the Duras led Civil War, etc. I could go on to list some DS9 episodes, but IMO the point is made.)

Yeah the Klingons have always been extremist xenophobes. Many alien races have been, actually, including Earth's staunchest enemies (all of them - Romulans, Gorn, Tholians, etc.) and closest allies, the Vulcans and, to some extent, the Andorians and Tellarites. All the Founding Worlds show quite a bit of institutional and casual racism, in fact.

Amusingly, of all the adversaries we've seen, only the Cardassians seemed to be willing to embrace other cultures (during their occupation), like Bajor, going so far as starting wartime relationships and families, like none others have. They're more Roman than Romulans are, to be fair.

It was one of the things I like about STAR TREK: ONLINE in that the Klingons form something akin to the Typhon Pact in the novelverse. They're stronger for forming their own anti-democratic diverse Anti-Federation.

I noticed that! I was shocked to see Gorns, Nausicaans, Orions and other known Beta Quadrant species wearing Klingon armor milling about First City on Qo'nos. I remember the first thing I thought when I saw that was, "A lot's changed in the 25th!"

Question: I'm currently vetting a purple Ferengi tactical officer for my Fed character. I already have a full-purple BOFF Fed roster. Can I email that un-used BOFF object over to my Klingon character's account and have it work? I'm honestly not sure and I don't want to risk losing it in the process. Those take about 24 hours to cook and even longer for the opportunity to arise in the queue of available duty officer side-missions.

Boffs are usually faction specific: IE If the Ferengi is a Fed aligned Boff, your KDF character won't be able to get the 'Join' button. But you won't loose anything as you can mail him back. Boffs don't become bound to a character until they're unpacked OR they were a mission/Doff system reward.

Anyone? Been logging on every now and then, but no one's in the fleet chat, and don't have access to the actual Fleet channel since I'm not a member...

I think those that are left running it at present want to leave it or hand it over to others seeing as the numbers playing it are low, so if you want to take it over then give them a PM as they are waiting to hear from anyone, as a fleet member made a post a page back waiting to hear from people.......i mean it is a virtual thing, so not like it can't sit mothballed or with low players in case the game ever adds something in the futue to bring players back to the TrekBBSfleet, never say never. ;)

That's basically what I told TJ on the last page, just didn't get a response.

a) stop booting the vets since you're not up against a space cap anyway. After the last round of complaints, and then him re-inviting me, it's fairly frustrating to find myself booted again. Especially during complaints about lack of players.

b) please promote one of the vets back into a management position so that if the few active players leave, at least we're not locked out altogether because someone will be there to keep it alive (if not active).

I just can't even get an invite back INTO the fleet, much less a promotion. Don't care if I'm in charge or someone else that would be reachable (know there's a few vets out there that still log in occasionally), but would at least like access to the fleet holdings I spent more than a decade contributing to, even if I don't play often...

^^^Ah, well that answers the question as to why i have started getting messages asking about selling my account, last week, i knew something was going on as i have never had that before in the entire length of the game. Ha
