This could because of the change over from Cryptic to PWE Arc as i remember some users on the original STO forums at the time found their accounts names had been changed during the migration over to PWE servers due to the fact that said name already existed on the PWE and their Arc systems before STO was migrated over.....so this might have been due to that, although at the time they were offering said users a one time account name change of their choice......but i have no idea if this is still a option. :(

Actually what had happened (I was one of the accounts affected by this) was Cryptic ham-handedly 'reserved' names, but when you went to claim the existing name under the procedure they had, it thought you were trying to use one e-mail account for TWO accounts, and trouble ensued in that it wouldn't let you complete the claim to your existing name. The option they had was you could either wait a couple weeks as Cryptic's small CS staff waded through the trouble tickets and manually fixed it so you could keep the name , OR you could pick a new 'non-reserved' name and the procedure would complete.

They also had a rule in place that if someone did make claim an existing name, if the original owner of the name hadn't logged in - in the past 3 months, and the other person's account was 'active' in that time - the 'active' person got the name, and the inactive person was sent an e-mail notifying him/her; and given a link to a page that had them verify who they were and then pick a new name - or to contact support.

I was one of the lucky ones who only had to change my Account Name to sign in to PWE.
I got to keep my Forum name no problem.

Such a pity we can't use our PC accounts on the consoles, i found the game was very playable with a joypad and way more relaxing in your comfy chair than sitting hunched at your PC, but i could not start all over again from scratch for all the tea in China on the console version, that would be a nightmmare in itself. lol

Agreed. The PC version definitely seems to be a little more feature-rich than its console contemporaries, which appear generally semi-crippled by comparison.

Well, I'll ask the question. Aside from the previous work put into it, should we continue fleet operations? We are down to 32 members. There is no fleet communication. As of this date despite me asking for months only a grand total of 2 people have joined the fleet channel. Whenever I catch someone online I am invariable ignored. Whenever I have asked someone to step up and take a role of responsibility I am turned down. Next to nothing is donated and as anyone can see the announcement of getting us into an active armada while getting over 200 views, not one person could be bothered to comment in any way. So I put the vote to you all remaining. I'll keep voting up for 2 weeks. If more than half wish to keep the fleet running then so be it. After that time if the numbers aren't there the decision will have been made.

^TJ, you know my response already, but if you're disbanding to join other active fleets, please turn control back over to one of the older players just so we don't lose control completely. Been a decade, so while most aren't active much anymore, nice to have an option when playing for nostalgia. If you're going to keep playing, go nuts, but if you're moving on, just make sure we don't lose access as part of it. Not sure who from the original team still plays, but give it to any of them that speak up, or worst case can just promote me back so that full access is still available for anyone that wants it later.

I won't vote personally as I don't play enough to be counted. Regardless of how I think it went, glad that the old fleet at least a boost to a new group of players for a while...

Edit: also, was I booted from the fleet AGAIN? tried to log on and check it out, and I'm not in a fleet again. Could be part of why so few people are in the fleet at this point. After our talks, why purge the same people again? Maybe we need a new rank, 'Starfleet Retired' for the folks that are only playing occasionally but shouldn't be purged? Could also have permissions that reflect having played in the Fleet for a decade...

I can't believe they made virtual digital content a limited commodity, i mean how much money would the charity have made if they just allowed everyone to buy everything without this silly limited quality on a virtual product, i just don't get it.

PWE/Cryptic is still a business, they don’t want to lose too much money by practically giving away 10k ships. That’s a $300k worth of ships.

Anyways the T1 pack with all the pink items is unlimited. It’s only the ship bundles that were limited.

^^^Well they are only giving 85% of the money to the charity, so they are making money on virtual items that would no doubt never have sold in these amounts ever, so you would think the more they sold the more cash they make.

85% up to $75k. Which means 100% of the goal is going to charity.
