I'm wondering why some of your bipedal creatures don't have a second set of grasping limbs, like the hominins we know so well from the same worlds. On the last page alone are the Corvallen beastie and the Gorn mount. Birds are not a good comparison, as their grasping limbs have evolved into wings, and thus still exist.

that is because, even on this world their are exceptions. You mention birds, well lets look at them especially some ratites. Kiwis, cassowaries, moas, elephant birds, have all had their forelimbs reduced to the point of uselessness. Another few hundred thousands to million years, and they'd be gone (most likely). It is all about adaptation. Just because many of the humanoids on trek are humans in make-up, outside of the general 100% cgi ones, does not mean that other organisms would retain those traits. Look at snakes; especially those of the boidae whos hind limbs are still present, but pretty much pointless. Or consider the amphibian family known as the sirenidae, who possess forelimbs are developed, but the hind ones are totally absent. I have drawn one or two species per planet, their would no doubt be hundreds of millions of organisms on these worlds...I just choose the ones that I like or would like to represent. Thanks for the comment, and inquiry. I hope this lent some insight as to my train of thought. :)

    lol thanks :)

When I first saw this image, it triggered a rare bout of thalassophobia. That grasping hand — so reminiscent of the forelimbs of anomalocaris, yet horrifyingly dextrous. Those cold, staring eyes.

Then I read that it was a "Skyviper" and realized it wasn't a creature lurking in watery depths, but one capable of flight. It's so much better knowing this thing can swoop down and grab me rather than reach up from the waves!

That snout reminds me of opabinia. The Cambrian oceans and shallows were not places you wanted to be.

I just regularly look for any thread in the Fan Art forum started by Atolm, about once a week. You can usually catch everything that way. :)

I'd be very interested in your take on the Kinshaya of John Ford's Final Reflection novel - keeping in mind recent fictional works have fleshed them out a bit more.. I've always thought it would be likely that the Talosians would have had one, and maybe even a Klingon. Lol

Maybe more of an Entelodont than a Hyaenodont, but I can smell what you're cookin. As for the Great Old One, I have never really drawn him. I have though, drawn Wilbur Whateley, and his brother, the Dunwich Horror. they are up on my Deviantart page.
