Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Nope. Available in the US too. Just give them a call and order them. The Battlestar Galactica line also uses the small magazines like Disco but, for some odd reason, they never came up with binders for them. They’re up to #9 (TOS Cylon Raider) now, so I’m hoping for new binders from them next year maybe. They’re a slower production run, so they’re probably biding their time before spending the money for them.

Don't talk to me or my son ever again!
They have a similar surface structure, it looks great.

By the way, if all the CGI models from Insurrection and Nemesis were lost, how were they able to produce the Valdore model so early?

It was only the Insurrection models that were believed lost.

Well that's interesting... On Memory Alpha it says all the Nemesis models are lost too, but the sources only seem to mention Insurrection. However, Ben Robinson mentioned here that at least the Scimitar had to be rebuilt as well.

Memory Alpha isn't always accurate, like so many others that rely on crowdsourced information, it occasionally suffers from the side effects of "wikiality". I've only ever heard that Insurrection models were lost as well, but the original Norway-class ship model file from First Contact's Sector 001 battle was corrupted apparently and also required a fresh build. The end product was fairly well done, IMO, as were the new Son'a ships.

IIRC, the Scimitar needed to be specifically "reworked" (as opposed to "rebuilt), as it had lots of greebles and details and spires that made it difficult to reproduce in a small-scale model form. The separating articulated wing segments also added to the complexity of the task. They had similar concerns with the Disco Klingon Sarcophagus ship (which turned out pretty well), and they flat-out gave up on trying to reproduce the Narada from Trek09, as it was just way too super-detailed to do the model justice and would likely have been in pieces during delivery, likely requiring a large and expensive margin-eating replacement effort.

After the Excelsior and Enterprise B models I also took the measurements of the EM Curry. I'm pretty sure the model is based on the components of Ed Giddings' Excelsior mesh, as it has the same inaccurate proportions. However, I think in the Curry configuration these inaccuracies aren't very noticable, so the model still looks more accurate than EM's Excelsior and Enterprise B.

Pretty much every single version of the Excelsior class is wrong. Why? Because none of them are based on the original studio model. I'm not sure where you got your measurements for the OSM, but I don't believe they are correct. The biggest problem is that everyone is getting the size of the saucer wrong. It is bigger that most people realize. The model was originally just over 91 x 36 inches wide (the Ent-B fin added about an inch). And there shouldn't be much confusion because the best photos of the model configuration were released in 1984. The Digital Muse Excelsior was patterned after Greg Jein's Excelsior, which was also made from photo references, not the original studio model. Trying to create accurate drawings has been difficult, but I've uncovered some great info and a horde of pictures along the way.

i think it's time for the enterprise-A from star trek beyond, given the kelvin timeline's complete lack of representation in the XL line, my fingers are crossed, but there still might be a licensing issue tripping them up over the size these things can be.
A little secret I uncovered that I don't think CBS wants advertised is that because these are models of vehicles, even fictional vehicles, they are not copyrighted. Paramount patented all the ships they made as toys to protect the IP, but the TOS designs and everything that is 17 years old or older has no legal protection to the design. It cannot be marketed with the Star Trek name on it without proper licensing, but Eaglemoss is free to make these model to any size or scale they see fit using any design they see fit.

Hi guys and girls.. A request
Do any of you have the Magee class USS Shran?
If so, do you have the booklet, and acess to a scanner, or a good camera?
I'm building that ship in 3d right now, and the people who modeled it cheaped out and left out Alot of stuff.. like a shuttle bay.. and a deflector dish.. so just need access to the "prototype drawings" that are in the booklet to flesh out the rest of the model :)
Thanks in advance!!

Edit:
Closeup of this page would be nice( Screen grab from Youtube) :)

Here's some of the pictures I used. Are they inaccurate in any way?

Random RM question (nebulous at best):

I’m looking to purchase another EM ship around the end of the year - and am considering either:

* the Phase II Enterprise 1701

or

* the USS Discovery

Currently I’m leaning towards the Discovery.

I’d be interested to hear what others think, in terms of a choice between these two EM models.

Thanks in advance!
