Marvel films, it's time for a Black female lead

that's what happens when you only quote part of what I said
Look, get this straight: no one has to quote any of what you said to comment knowledgeably on it.

All they have to do is read it.

Which I have.

Here's the simple fact: you've not posted anything accurate or substantial on this topic.

You just keep repeating statements about your feelings, dressed up in what I guess must seem to you to be plausible rhetoric.

Doesn't cut it.

Now, why don't the rest of us go back to discussing whether Marvel should headline a black woman superhero?

The answer is: Yes.

If you say so. Reminds me of a facebook argument I had where someone said Hamill loved what they did they did with Luke, citing a comment made .. I argued that all the statements he had made previous to that showed contempt for his role in the film. In fact someone ALREADY created a cut on youtube of ten minutes of him in different interviews talking about how he hated how the character was written in the film. So even if he made a statement saying he was fine, the person I was arguing with just wanted to dismiss all those other interviews, wanted to dismiss out of hand the possibility that maybe they talked to him and told him to say something nice.. they even wanted to discredit the video because of who made it, regardless of the fact that footage might speak for itself. There is a lot of intellectual dishonesty here

Prime candidates being Storm, Monica Rambeau in her Photon/'80s Capt. Marvel stage, the current Ms. Marvel and especially Iron Heart? I can see studios attempting the last two. It's a bit early to recast Tony Stark, though knowing reboot tendencies I suppose it'll be 10 years from now and likely much less. I'll vote for the current Ms. Marvel, though some will gripe the title's too similar to Captain Marvel. I like the new non-Berry Storm, but since the original character is patrician in some respects and not a natural cut-up, I can see her solo film could be perceived as a financial risk. If they teamed her with Kitty Pryde as the comics often did, that could work and amp up the humor. I wouldn't mind a solo Kitty film either.....they're considering that as well.

If you say so.

I do. I'm right. Your expressed opinions here are entirely in error.

Reminds me of a facebook argument I had...

I don't care.

I do think it's a shame that they've made women the key heroic haracters in the next Terminator movie, though. I mean, talk about disrespecting the original for the sake of a diversity quota... ;)

What about Samantha Wilson? Seems like a great moment to introduce a woman as Captain America.

Ms. Marvel's getting a D+ show somewhere around 2022. I'm hoping she might still get a movie as well somewhere down the line but it seems questionable at best. And since Monica's been introduced in the 'Bucky/Rhodey/Wong' slot of the Captain Marvel films, my money's on a Storm movie. I'd love it to be Storm and Ironheart both, but I still have trouble convincing myself they'd actually be willing to take the risk on Ironheart.

Yeah, Storm is the best bet. And I don't see her being slightly patrician as a problem. For one thing, she grew up as a thieving orphan in Cairo, and then wandered further south on her own before finding that tribe that worshipped her. There are a lot of movies about patricians, even Kings (Black Panther comes to mind), that are huge at the box office, so I don't quite see how Marvel would see that aspect as a financial risk.

Because of the continuing Batmans and Spideys, no doubt there will be another Iron film of some sort. BLACK PANTHER's success could influence them to use her. T'Challa wasn't the biggest cut-up either. It's harder to believe now, but his comics kept cancelling in the earlier days of Marvel. Doctor Strange's too.

I'm only passingly familiar with the X-People - could they plausibly tie the story line of her movie into the Wakanda characters and background? One of the delightful things about Black Panther, for me, was seeing the whole New York-centric The West Is The Whole Enchilada milieu of the MCU (honestly, of most popular movies) just sent to the bench for a couple of hours. Let her go somewhere and do something important that most of the usual suspects are just not part of.

Kevin Feige said we will meet her in the D+ series and then we will also see her in movies, but I'm thinking it will be in a supporting role in someone else's movies rather than her own solo movie.

Wolverine went to Japan. Ororo could go to.........downtown Silver Spring? Crazy, not effective.

So I am the only one who wants a movie about Shuri? Heck make her next Iron Man even if it was never done in the comics unless of course you can get Holland to come play Peter Stark in which case make another movie about her. Jason

If you want a young black woman as Iron Man then you can just use Riri Williams.
If Shuri was going to take on a superhero identity, I'd rather see her take over for her brother.

I want a Shuri movie because of her role in the movies. I don't know much about characters. As for her being Black Panther I think that would go against what I think would be fun and that is use her smarts and tech instead of punching people to stop the baddie. As for Black Panther I find him to be dull and would love to see a reformed Killmonger as the new lead. Jason I meant to say I don't know much about the comics when I typed characters.

Kamala Khan isn't black, she's Pakistani-American.

During their Rosa parks episode, Pakistani Doctor Who Companion Yaz's physical appearance confused the racists so much, that they called her "Mexican".
Sam's only been Cap a few years now. Too soon. Even if you're serious.

I'm not sure if you are serious. Samantha Wilson, a black woman who can kick all our asses, has been Captain America since the 1940s in the the Spider-Gwen universe.

There's no reason she couldn't still do that as Black Panther.
Here's Riri Williams

That happens to my Indian wife often. And by Mexicans.
