Has anyone ever actually met anyone named Judas?
Has anyone ever actually met anyone named Judas?
actually, yes. There were 2 different Judas in the bible, it appears: Judas Ischariot and Judas Thaddeus who also was one of the 12 apostles. Aparently the name was as popular back then as Jack or Bob are nowadays.Has anyone ever actually met anyone named Judas?
Ever hear of the Salt Vampire?you wouldn't eat salt as a meal unless there's something wrong with you.
Anyone trying that in Canada would find themselves in violation of the Charter of Rights (discrimination on the basis of religion).May I get us back on course by comparing naming customs from the religious point of view?
I'm curious how naming is handled in different religions and whether there are any taboos or general rules.
A class mate's parents wished her to be christened Heidrun and the (roman catholic) priest pointblank refused on the basis that that was a heathen name and forcibly christened her Adelheid instead.
If you're talking about humans. Same-sex male penguin couples raising eggs abandoned by the mother have been a thing for millions of years. Some say Jesus was the first baby born with a surrogate mother and two daddies... Shame that we had to wait 2000 years for the next one...![]()

Agreed. After the egg is laid, there's nothing a female penguin can do to care for the chick that a male penguin can't do. There's a couple of penguins doing this right now at a zoo in the U.S. (Baltimore, I think). Thankfully the article I read about it didn't mention anyone carrying on about the "immorality" of it like they did in a previous article about a different same-sex penguin couple that wanted to raise a chick. And you know what? We may even find out that that is why penguins are still around instead of having gone extinct. Sometimes it doesn't take more than that.

I've heard of frogs "changing sex"
But there is proof of two male penguins producing offspring?????
Fascinating!
... I think anything taken to extremes is bad...
I read it in 'national geographic '.Not "producing", raising!
The frog thing you probably got from "Jurassic Park", that's how they "explained" how the dinos who were all (initially) females had offsprings.
You're not insane about Star Trek, tho. That's for the DSC forum.I'll happily be insane for Star Trek. It has vastly improved the quality of my life and brought me some lasting friendships I never would have developed without this as a springboard. As for religious fervor, that's an entirely different ball of wax, IMO. At that point, it's not just your enthusiasm. You're bringing god(s) into it and justifying all kinds of things with that imagined divine sanction.
