Makes sense then that she will still be involved in Season 3. Which can only be a good thing as Michelle Yeoh is great.

Not sure what that will mean for the timing of the shows though. If they're filming Section 31 as Discovery is airing it probably won't be ready for release when season 3 is done, which seems like odd planning. Unless they're expecting the Picard show to fit in between the two shows schedule wise.

If Georgiou is Captain and she leaves afterwards for Section 31, then it would be in keeping with the New Captain Every Season Tradition. Same could apply to Book. If they go that route with him. I hope they don't. I don't even know the character yet, but with a nickname as cool as that, I want him to stick around.

I have a feeling that seventh signal at the end was her borrowing the angel suit for a journey back. But because of causality and temporal mechanics we won't see it from the future's end until the end of the season.

Generally speaking, time travel with the Angel Suit does not send signals. Gabrielle did it all the time, and the most we ever saw was a bit of red glow inside Michael's quarters after the chess match; she didn't even trigger any alarms with her visit.

How does one set up a Red Sign? When the original seven appear, Pike's team agrees they involve impossible energies, shining across the galaxy like that. And the first one of the second set of seven is declared identical to one of the originals. That is, the one that takes the heroes to the Hiawatha is not only in the same place as the nearmost of the originals, it also never elicits any sort of "but this one is much weaker" dialog from the heroes. And yet we are led to believe this Sign was specifically lit up by Michael, in her quick-and-dirty copy of the Suit that has not yet accrued any optional extras such a alien galactic flare guns.

Of course, we also know Michael did not set up the original seven Signs, as we see her setting up a different set of seven instead (of which only the Hiawatha one is an explicit duplicate of one of the originals, and the twinned Terralysium one is an implicit one, but beyond those the heroes completely discard the idea that the original seven Signs would in any fashion predict where future Signs appear - and rightly so, since we can easily tell none of the originals was at Boreth, say). Did Gabrielle set up the original seven? If so, it's an iterative process of sorts, and might suggest Gabrielle will return. Perhaps she will take command?

PIC will air before the Section 31 series. It is expected to premiere in early 2020. They plan to release Lower Decks also in 2020. There was no annoucement for the Nickelodeon series so far, but they have started working on it, too.

Based on this article S31 won't air before 2021.

My two choices for preferred captain. Both sharing the same first name.

After rewatching the second season, I think it’s pretty clear that Saru expects Michael to be captain. When given command he looks over at her and says something about other things being taken into consideration. In season one he said about how brilliant she was and that she was meant to get her own command and him move up to be first officer. I’m sure she’s well and truly repaid her debt to society by saving the known universe.

Also, Saru is definitely junior to Burnham in the rank of full Commander - she held it at the Binaries already, while he only got it afterwards. It would be odd for Saru to think he could circumvent that fact, even given his new boldness. Unless we get the surprise revelation that Burnham's stint as outlaw bumped her back somehow. But Saru had time to sort this out even after it became clear that no higher-ranking officer would be available to do the sorting for him after the Control affair was concluded; the surprise might be in him having gotten secret orders from Pike after all, or pretending to.

Neither Emperor Georgiou nor TylerVoq even tried to pull rank over regular Starfleet when in S31 employ, so her doing it now would be a bit of a surprise. But surprise and fear are the three main weapons of that organization...

I could see a CGI-ish appearance of ALF being the Harry Mudd of the 32nd Century.
