Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

I randomly remembered a day camp I went to when I was 12 at the Museum of Science. One project at the end was to pitch a new exhibit to the museum’s board about cells.

I remember I’m the only one who wanted to pitch something they might realistically go for. I suggested just a cell diagram with buttons that make each part light up. All the other kids wanted to pitch this giant elaborate expensive thing that involved having a room for every part of the cell including a restaurant in the vacuole.

Thinking about that also makes me think about a time I was six and they had a contest to guess the number of books in the library and I won by virtue that I guessed in 4 figures, whereas all the other kids guessed over a million.

The film was a visual thrill ride from start to finish. A great way to finish off the Bond franchise in the 1980s.

I bet Anthony Zerbe is real :censored: tired of being killed off in extremely gruesome ways.

Although the guy who got crushed in a cocaine grinder...that probably hurt worse

Agreed about the film in general. Tomorrow Never Dies is my favorite Bond film, but this one is also right up there. Franz Sanchez was one of the scariest bad guys Bond has ever faced. And he wasn't trying to take over the world or some bullshit like that, he was just a drug dealer. Bond could use more down-to-earth villains like that.

I don't know, his head looked too much like a balloon. It's just as bad as in "Live And Let Die" when the dictator dies, it's just a big balloon that sort of looks like him.

Sometimes I'll watch a random Chopped episode on Hulu during a meal. I think I may have just seen my first episode where I thought all four contestants were nothing special and should've all been eliminated.

I am not a hypochondriac, I never take any sort of medication or pseudo-medication unless it is prescribed by a doctor for a real ailment. I've been known to argue with my doctor about that when I consider that some medication is unnecessary. I will never take mind-altering substances unless maybe if a doctor assures me that there is no alternative and even then I am likely to ask for a second opinion. Also, I am lucky enough not to have ever been seriously sick. I am aware that this could change anytime without warning. However, I am a health nut, I avoid doing things that are potentially destructive, like eating unbalanced meals for too long. I am not averse to one large festive meal once in a while but there has to be a recovery period between these. marked with extra work out and dietish meals. If you see what I mean.

Last Saturday, I decided to move on from the 'old friend' situation. In fact, it felt more like a situationship than a real effort to reconnect on their part.

My intuition told me to hold back, set a healthy boundary, and get on with my life. It wasn't my place to start a conversation because they'd reached out first. There's no harm in taking things slow, which I did, but I felt that they weren't willing to commit and were only looking for attention. They overshared details of their life and took pride in not wanting to grow up. Again, there's nothing wrong with feeling young but realised that I was more emotionally grounded than them.

The timing felt strange too because they'd contacted me two weeks prior to them having an operation. There's nothing wrong in turning your life around but their post op feed on social media turned into a pity party all last week. They were impatient and frustrated with the recovery time.

I don't know why they reached out to me. Maybe it really was to show off? I realised that they hadn't changed since the last time. If they had something important to say then they'd have said it on day one. (Instead of dragging the silence out for weeks on end.)

I don't want to sound jealous, needy or rude. The last post that I saw dealt with cops and fire service on their street. Meanwhile, I had a good day out two days earlier and shared some b&w photos that went ignored. Basically, I didn't want to deal with the attention seeking drama or feeling left out in the cold again.

The situation felt a bit shady. I'm glad that I've locked that door to my past though.

Some people never call when things are Aok, so when you hear their voice on the phone assuming you didn't identify their phone number before picking up, you know you're not going to like what they'll say and you mentally brace yourself for the mental blow.

Feline Follies reminded me of this. Years ago my yellow male cat caught a mouse in the family room and enjoyed tossing it up in the air, over and over while my female black cat watched this very admiringly. Suddenly there was "crunch crunch crunch". Yep, the cat had finished with the mouse juggling and was chewing up a mousey snack. All that he left was a little pile of yellow guts. He was a good mouser and dug up voles all the time, but we couldn't stomach the baby bunny heads he left around.

I understand, I once caught my cat "Blackie" wink wink and my dog fighting over a mouse, Blackie had it by the head and Buddy by the tail.
Blackie won, and then K-runch.

The only problem is the mice and moles he leaves at my door-step.

I used to have a cat that was what I would call an athlete hunter. He would kill like dozens of field mice in a day, sometimes he ate them, sometimes he left them on the stairs leading to the front door, probably his ways of saying, "See what I am capable of?". Fortunately, he didn't have much to hunt around the house as we were pretty much mouse free at the time, so field mice were his common fare. I didn't have to feed him that much so he likely did eat a lot of them. Maybe he left them only when he was full.
