Spoilers The Boys Season 1 - Amazon Prime Superhero Series Starring Karl Urban and Elizabeth Shue

The guy in the tv show doesn't seem dumb at all. The Homelander they're presenting has the potentiality of being the maker or breaker of the world

He wasn't dumb in the comics too. Yes, he had his issues, but he wasn't stupid. I mean,
He organized a coup and he would have succeeded had it not been for a secret anti-superhero technology

Just watched episode 4, "The Female of the Species", this morning.
I hate to admit it after what happened with Starlight, but I'm actually starting to almost feel, a tiny, tiny bit sorry for The Deep. He gets no respect whatsoever, and then when he actually tries to do something good it goes to shit.
That poor Dolphin.
Damn, that scene on the plane with Homelander and Maeve was pretty horrible, and then it got even worse when he used the crash as part of their attempt to get the Supes in the military. Just when you think he can't get any worse, he goes and does something like that.
So does "The Female" have powers, or is she just what happens when a regular person takes Compound V?
It was nice to get a bit more backstory for Butcher, Frenchie, and Mother's Milk.

Well...
in another episode we see another person who took Compound V and he has some kind of energy power

I binged this a few days ago. Fucking loved it. Dark and twisted, but everything's got a reason for happening. From Homelander's twisted Mommy issues on down.

My only issue is that Homelander has yet to realise that if he wanted to take over, nobody could stop him. But I suspect that's gonna happen in season 2.

I finally saw Shazam! a few days later and couldn't help but wonder where the money for all that Justice League merch (figures, shirts, toys and even bluerays and DVD's of animated movies!) was going.

Knowing the League, right to charity (after the manufacturers take their cut, naturally).

Oh man, this show was so f'ing good. What fool is not watching this?

At times I was laughing my ass off, other times I covered my eyes and had to watch it through open fingers. It's so satisfying.

Another 2 years later people will be into this like they were GOT.

Me. They killed a kid in the first episode. Since I became a father, that makes me extra sensitive to that. But that is just me and my quirks, no comment on the quality of the show.

Understood :techman:

I want to, but I don't get Amazon Prime and I'm trying to work out how to get the extra cash for the commitment.
Perfectly valid reason also.

Hope you guys didn't take my comments personally and you'll get to see it under different circumstances in future.

I'm just finishing up the season. I tried reading The Boys when it was being published as a comic book and the over the top visceral nature of its content turned me off so much I stopped reading--not saying it wasn't well written. After reading about the new series all over the place I've been watching an episode an evening for the past week. It is a pretty amazing series, with new layers to the story introduced every episode. I've laughed out loud (especially at the dolphin and the lobster scenes) and I've been shocked and surprised. I feel like I am watching something like Game of Thrones back in its first season.

What is really underrated though, and not discussed very much, is the music. The choice of songs is absolutely incredible and punches through every moment--mostly in a laugh out loud satirical fashion. The Spice Girls, The Clash, REM. The person who is choosing the tunes is an absolute genius.

My main issue with this series is the same I have with the source material. It has these Supers be in a world where there's really no need for them so we can see them be asshats and nothing else. If there really were alien invasions or demon gods or real supervillains running around doing stuff the normal cops and armies couldn't handle and the Supers could, this sort of story wouldn't work.

That's explored both here and in the source material, the "heroes" are meaningless without a purpose so in both versions there are efforts to invent one as a form of self justification.

Watched episode 5: Good For the Soul
-I loved Starlight's speech at the Believe Expo, it was nice to see her kind of call people out of their bullshit.
-The lazer eye baby as a weapon was hilarious.
-So does lazy eye baby mean they are using the Compoud V to make Supe babies, or at they just screwing around with babies who are already Supes?
-I was pretty shocked A Train killed Popclaw.
-OK, what the fuck was that with Stillwell and Homelander at the end? That was kinda weird.

Watched episode 6: The Innocents
Wow, this one episode gave us backstory for Butcher, Kimiko, and Homelander.
It was nice to finally learn what happened Butcher's wife after all of the bits and pieces we got before this. No wonder he hates the Supes so much. I'm curious if his wife is going to pop up alive somewhere. Usually with this kind of story if someone disappeared and everyone assumes they're dead, they're not.
It was nice to finally learn exactly what Voight is up with the Compound-V. Them having used it to make all the Supes was a big surprise.
Poor Annie, she just can't win when it comes to dealing with Voight.
Kimiko's backstory was another big surprise.
