Spring 2020. So I guess this will premiere the week after season 10 of Walking Dead airs its finale?

 

I don't remember which of the sites I go to I saw it on, but saw a story the other day where they said they might not actually include "The Walking Dead" in the title for this one.

 

I was hoping it would be called "Children of the Walking Dead".

 

From the video it sounds like this might be taking place after the other two, so I could see avoiding the TDW name as a way to separate it from them. Kind of like when they didn't put Star Trek in the title of the first couple seasons of Enterprise.

 

And then the next series can be called God Emperor of the Walking Dead.

Star Trek was left out of Enterprise's title at first because UPN was afraid the Star Trek name would scare away viewers. Then when the ratings began sliding, they re-added it thinking the Star Trek name would attract viewers.

At the moment, Walking Dead is still one of the more popular TV shows on the air. It makes more sense for this show to have a title that associates itself with it.

 

Whatever the title turns out to be, I'm wondering if the pilot prove there's more left in the body of this franchise. I suppose an indicator will be how this season of Fear the Walking Dead plays, which is still the spin-off proving ground. If this season ends on a flat tire, it would be hard to see the showrunners suddenly getting it right with a fresh cast/concept.

 

I think it would be a mistake to leave Walking Dead out of the title, just like it was with Enterprise. That's the audience they want to appeal to.

 

Yeah, I can see the thought process behind it, but in both cases it is kind of a weird thing to do. If it part of the universe, and everyone knows it's part of that universe, you might as well just put it in the title.

The same is true on the other two shows. At least this one has the excuse of having a predominantly young cast. Post-apocalyptic youth are clearly still concerned with being fashionable.
