I wonder if there's some significance to the Tulsa setting, and all I can come up with is the Tulsa Race Riot of 1921.

Robert Redford is the President of the United States in this universe. And they cast some guy named Robert Redford to play him.

Wonder how they sold the idea to him.

That's awesome and actually ties into the very last scene of the comic.

    Among the sellers.
They convinced him that Robert Redford was the role he was born to play.

^ That's not all that much of a wait. Sooner than I was expecting.

Another new trailer a few days ago-

So I've not read up anything on this show, all I've had to go by is the trailers. And...
I've read the graphic novel of Watchmen many times
I've watched the Motion Comic a few times
I've seen the movie numerous times
I've read Before Watchmen a couple of times

....and I still have no idea what these trailers are showing me or what it has to do with Watchmen

The comic is sacrosanct to them, and this...whatever it is...happens in a 2019 that might have been the consequences of the comic book's events.

EW has a new interview with Damon Lindeloff about the series.
Apparently Robert Redford won't be appearing.
A few other bits and pieces he revealed:
There are no internet or cell phones, and thanks to Dr. Manhattan's discoveries all cars run on electricity or fuel cells. President Redford based a "Victims of Racial Violence Legistation", which gives tax exemptions to all victims or direct descendants of racial injustices in specific ares.
The real world Tulsa massacre of 1921 is an important part of the show's backstory and ties into it through Redford's legislation. Sadly, I'd never even heard of what happened in Tulsa until this interview.
