Surely something good happened to you today

Went to the car to retrieve a bottle of coke from the boot to go with the Jack Daniels. It’s cool outside but not chilly, though it’s midnight, and despite the whisps of cloud here and there, the stars are big and bright, and command a moment to just look and wonder, what’s there? The city lights on the other side of the pitch black fields shimmered like twinkling stars, and the low drone of distant machinery filled the air. I like where we live.

I also met a newborn today, another little sister for my children’s class mates. Don’t know why but newborns never fail to give that warm fuzzy woo. Want one,

My tomato crop failed, along with the peas. It’s my first go, so lessons to be learned and all that.
Don't give up! Sometimes there are circumstances nobody can explain. My neighbour and I both grow tomatos on our terraces - the buckets stand only 2 meters apart. My plants are far taller than his but he has a better crop with one particular sort.
Also, he always has a record crop of zucchini/courgettes, while my ones stubbornly refuse to grow female flowers and get only male ones (gay courgettes??)
Sometimes plants just don't want to do what we humans expect of them. That doesn't mean you are doing anything wrong. It only means that plants are a bit like people and have their moods :)

Good thing today: I had a totally awful stressy day and then a colleague came back from an excursion and brought ice cream for everyone =) That really made my day

I had a mini adventure down paths not trod before by me, crossed grasslands populated by large majestic creatures that tried to corner me as I encroached their territory. Battled aggressive vegetation, spikes barbs and stings. Wilted in the searing heat as I searched for my children, and when I found them, I had a couple of G&Ts with another parent in a sunny back yard.

Then I walked the children home from their playdate, back down the country lane, to where a delicious pot roast was waiting.

Best of all was the refreshing shower at the end of it all.

Hubby is taking vacation days this week. Out of the blue, he decided we should go out--we visited a Hindu Temple just a few minutes up the road from us. We've driven by it many times over the years but never stopped. It's just lovely! It's open to visitors, provided you are dressed decently and take your shoes off before you go in. It's all white marble, very intricately carved. Here's the website: BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir of Houston.

Then we drove off, and hubby said he had a special place in mind for the afternoon. Where did we end up? Bowling. Yes, bowling. I don't know why that's what he wanted to do, but what the hell. Hubby is a pretty good bowler. Me? I bowled about 9 or 10 straight gutter-balls, got a couple of spares and got one strike. I was bound to hit something sooner or later.

Then we went out to Piada's for dinner and then came home. A very nice day out.

That's awesome! Are you of the faith? If not kudos to you - exploring new stuff! If so - kudos to you; affirming your faith is great too!

No luck though.
Don't give up :) They are rare but sooner or later you're bound to find one. As growing one leaf too many is often an overshooting reaction to stress or injury, chances are best at rather dry or otherwise not perfect spots or at places where people pass often and the plants get hurt.

Does this mean that I should stomp my way through every patch of clovers I see from now on?;)

No, no and HELL no. I have nothing but disdain for ALL forms of religion but I like learning about other cultures and I can admire beautiful architecture.
Didn't want to make any assumptions - I'm glad you got the chance to do that! Sometimes it's fun to look closer to home for adventure!

Today I went for beers (non alcoholic beers in my case) with my son, 2 of 3, and my youngest brother, he's 5 of 5
Celtic also won, so that's two good things today

All things considered, most days are pretty good days. But today I got along with everyone at work, got stuff done, came home to wife and kids, both kids got amazing test scores (they took the tests some months ago) and nobody got yelled at. Including me!

(Hey, thanks for this thread.)
