As long as it makes sense to the story then I can get onboard.While it may seem like "small universe syndrome" to have characters from previous series show up, it is actually realistic that if you stay in a particular specialized field for a long time (such as being a Starfleet officer), you will encounter some of the same people at various times over the years and decades.
