I'm thrilled about the Pike/Spock shorts. It's not the series I want, but perhaps they're gauging interest and perhaps a series will come from it.

It's not unheard of. But it is usually a surname.

Is this a serious complaint? Characters with names we recognize? So it would be better as "K'Leev'nd BkEEr ?

the federation can be the basis of the V'draysh, they can be similar in some things and very different in others. A language spoken by them is English, at least we know that!

It's crazy that this is a statement that was actually typed. Seriously!? The history of names today is very long. For example William as a name has existed since the 11th century, actually before that if you account for different spellings based on area. If this character was an alien then he should have an alien sounding name but he appears to be human so him having a human sounding name when human names today have existed and lasted hundreds of years makes complete sense. Them lasting hundreds of years into the future again is completely reasonable.

Look at it this way. If all he can do is complain about names, we're in a pretty good position. The more forced the criticisms are, and the further they have to reach, the better things are going.

Honestly, the way that Kurtzman talks about it makes it sound like how the season turns out past the first few episodes is still in flux. As opposed to Picard, where you can tell they're just blockading a bunch of stuff they already know.

Which kind of makes sense of course, given Picard's first season seems to be much further along than Discovery Season 3.

    That's what Picard feels like.

    Appeasement is getting tiresome.

When Kurtzman says things along the lines of 'people are wondering whether we're going to go dark' for season three, coupled with 'things are going to be very different in the future' but 'we'll stay true to Gene's vision, makes me strongly suspect that they are going to do a fall-of-the-federation storyline. The rough nature of Booker's clothing is also contributing to this vibe I'm getting.

My guess is that the Discovery crew will take it upon themselves to reintroduce Federation values that have gotten lost in the intervening centuries.

It would be one heck of a storyline, very ballsy, if it's handled well.

Whatever the storyline turns out to be, I'm very much looking forward to season 3!

They can't get DiscoSpock's Vulcan bowl cut right. It's too curved at the sides this time.

Probably because Amanda has been cutting it. One of the short treks will be about Spock finding a Barber where he can get his hair did just right.

I still hope the DISCO crew will return to their era halfway through the season. 1k years into the future doesn't sound interesting at all

I strongly suspect this is a permanent thing; the "explanation" for Discovery's canon wobbles sort of relies on that.

His haircut needs to be 25% different.

I think it's possible that if Discovery is eventually canceled they'll find some way to get a few characters back to the 23rd century (which presumably they're doing with Georgiou). Basically parceling out the fan favorites to the Section 31 show and/or an Pike Enterprise show. Not Michael of course, but maybe Saru, Tilly, Stamets, Culber, etc.
