I'm curious how big they are going to be.

Probably about a foot tall at the most. Something a child could hold onto well.

I'm curious. How is it bothersome to anyone that the venue will have female bartenders or female captains or anything else? That seems ludicrous. Nor are female characters of strength or command even remotely a new concept, so all this seems strange - as if we're acting it's 1940 or something and society has not evolved since then? I'm not sure what you're trying to say above and beyond what the article is announcing, as female bartenders have existed in Star Wars for some time and I don't see how that's bothersome to anybody.

Also, what is a "nerd"? Back in the day and many possible "days" exist, anyone watching and being a fan of these shows was typically branded as one - which would not exclude you. But it's unfair to me and you and everyone to have to guess, much less unwitting and/or inaccurately or otherwise make insinuation. What are you trying to say in your OP above and beyond the article yet relevant to it and the article didn't say all that much I read it, and I almost forgot - Ackmena isn't the bartender... but doesn't the 1978 Holiday Special doesn't count, as it created plenty of things to expand the SW universe with, as shown in later movies (Wookiee homeworld (ep III), Boba Fett (ep II, III, V, VI), etc)?

The LA Times even did a tour of the bathrooms. Really...

This all looks like so much fun. I haven't been to Disneyland in decades, but I now find myself hoping to make it back there again.

Making the Millennium Falcon ride a glorified arcade game strikes me as a very bad idea. Could be just me, but I don't want to interact with theme park rides; I want to soak them all in, to let them wash over me. And having one person control left/right movement, and another up/down? Blech, no. I'd much rather see a Waterworld-style stunt show - think how cool it'd be to watch a captured Jedi break out of a cell, Force-push some stormtroopers, and come face-to-face with Darth Vader! I'd take that over an arcade game any day.

I've no doubt Disney execs as greedy as you suggest here, but maybe it's a space/attendance issue? How many people can even an expanded park hold? Attendance has nearly quadrupled since the 1960s, and I doubt expansion has even remotely kept up.

It would also be nice if they would stop putting out intentionally gimped home video releases in their quest to force us all into streaming.

I'm pretty sure the other ride, Rise of the Resistance will be a more traditional non-interactive ride.
Personally, I think Smuggler's Run sounds like a blast.

Getting to actually fly the Millenium Falcon seems a lot cooler than just riding in it.

I'm excited to go, it looks really immersive. I definitely want to wait until the second ride opens up though. And until the initial rush dies down. Right now the crowds seem very manageable because we're still in the reservation period. Once that ends at the end of June, and all Disneyland guests can enter, I wonder how the crowds will be.

Other than the 1 ride, the only purpose of this 'park' is to sell you stuff. It's not entertainment, it full on retail. Restaurants, stores, droid factory, market, cantina bar ... all to sell you 'stuff'. The setting is the bulk of the only entertainment. Pass....

The Galaxy's Edge castmembers aren't allowed to say younglings to refer to children anymore, they use kids. The reason being that the most well known use of the term is when Anakin killed the Jedi younglings.

Kids is a term in Star Wars so not much has changed.

Just wait until someone in a trek uniform enters.

"We don't serve" and you know the rest.

As fun as that would be, you can’t wear any costume into the Disney Parks. They don’t want anyone who could be confused with a character potentially causing a problem.

I think they allow it during special effects, mostly for children. But you can’t even wear the Jedi robes you buy in Galaxy’s Edge.

Perhaps. But only controlling the X or Y axis while a potential total stranger controls the other, an arrangement so absurd it serves no other imaginable purpose than to divvy up the most glamorous position? That just sounds obnoxious, IMO.

Yep, posing in front of the Falcon, at the same camera angle as every other visitor, seems to be the highlight. Meh.

I haven't ridden it yet, but hearing from those who have, it seems like the intention was to foster a sense of excitement and teamwork among strangers. One person told me about how when they rode with people who weren't really into the ride, it was a bit more boring. But later they rode with a stranger as pilot who was clearly into the ride and began rallying the rest of the team, shouting commands and such and it made the experience more fun for everyone.

I think that's what it boils down to, this ride is more about interactive experience than anything else. Personally those aren't my favorite kind of rides, but some people really enjoy them. For example I find Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters kind of boring, but I have some family members who just love it.
