TNG episodes that would have been better with Cpt. Kirk.

Episodes that would have been better with Captain Kirk:

QED ;)

Shatner in The Inner Light would have been priceless.

Hrmmm, trying to picture that now ...

Kirk: I'd liketoask ..... yourpermission..... tobuildsomething.
ELINE: Kamin, you've built your telescope, your laboratory. You don't need my permission for something new.
Kirk: Inthiscase...... IthinkIdo.
ELINE: What is it?
Kirk: Anursery.
ELINE: Really? Really?
Kirk: Unless .... ofcourse, ifyouwould..... preferaporch...... Itwouldcertainly...... beeasiertobuild..... Icouldmakeastart ....onitrightaway.

I thought of that and at first I said no way. But then I remembered "The Paradise Syndrome," where he kinda did that anyway. With a much better story like "The Inner Light," he could have pulled it off well, but not better than Patrick Stewart.

Come to think of it, how would The Drumhead have played out with a Kirk-Satie confrontation rather than Picard-Satie ? Or The Inner Light ? (Not saying I think they would have been better, just curious what people think.)

Yesterdays Enterprise, with the TOS crew helping the NX-01 preserve the Federation, as its destruction was a rallying point during the Romulan War. Kirk / T'Pol banter would be fantastic.

So the premise of your rewrite is that the NX-01 is going to get destroyed? Um, what?

- With Satie, Kirk would have eventually gotten up and slapped some sense into her, on the screen.

- For the Inner Light; Kirk would have realized he was in a computer generated memory, found a way to access the A.I. controlling it; and talked/tricked it into downloading it's info the 1701 main computer and letting him go. He would have passed the flute to Spock who would have played a Vulcan related tune with it that they would reuse in future episodes ad nauseum.

If you discount the events of TATV (as so many fans do), then it is possible that the ship and crew were destroyed at some point, at a pivotal point in the Trek history.

Or Kirk interact with the captain of a different Enterprise.

Ring ship?

When you boil it down to its core, it seems that the whole thing would play like "The City on the Edge of Forever": History has gone awry, because something has been put out of time. To fix it, someone has to make the ultimate sacrifice. It's going to come off even more like "City," when you realize that the logical choice (HA!) for the Guinan counterpart is Spock. Kirk and Spock arguing over the necessary sacrifice to restore history is so "City."

Not to mention, no small part of the charm of YE was TNG getting a second crack at Yar. So, what, it's going to be Rand who goes back with the ship? She didn't even die.

I'm not seeing it.
