Oh, yeah, I remember hearing about that several years back. At the time I remember being disdainful of the idea, mostly due to being burnt out on Family Guy and his other cartoons. Now that I've seen two seasons of Orville I'll gladly eat my words from back then.

Many have speculated that Orville evolved from his ideas for his own Trek series. Though I got to admit, all things considered, I'm glad he did Orville as its own thing rather than as a Star Trek series. Mostly since being its own thing allows MacFarlane freedom to mold the show according to his own vision, rather than forcing it to conform to Gene's Vision which would undoubtedly be a requirement (or at least an expectation by the fans) if it were Star Trek.

On the bubble front, Proven Innocent was DOA and Seth MacFarlane's The Orville could return as a midseason debut.

Time to start the Orville season 3 thread, even though I expect it to premiere maybe Spring next year. I just hope it's not on the same night as Discovery. I hated Thursday Nights this year from January to April.

2 things I want from season 3 more than anything else.

1. A John story

2. Talla's backstory fleshed out a little more. I still think the transition from Alara to Talla could have been better. Maybe even more backstory on Xelaya.
