I'm starting to think Orville will be cancelled. They don't have much room for hour long scripted dramas now, and I would think they would have renewed it already if they really liked the show. It's a shame because I wish there were more shows like The Orville, at least along the lines of that optimistic space show rather than the dystopia conspiracy shows we see.

With the show now being 'owned' by The Corporate Mouse (tm.), any chance that if FOX Network pulls the plug, that The Orville may yet live on, being picked up by HULU?? Perhaps, as a wild thought, being added to Disney+ ??

If I was looking at the glass half full, that would be a very good reason why they haven't made the decision yet. They're negotiating where the show will end up. I just feel like we would have heard something by now with a show like this, and the fact that we haven't makes it hard to look at this glass half full.

Odd they are axing them one at a time and not in a blanket release.

^Not really knowing how this really works in Hollyweird, I'd imagine that if Disney thought there was value in The Orville and a profit could be turned by making more, they'd keep it in house and move it to Hulu or Disney +. I don't think they could justify moving it over to ABC Network; ratings are still ratings and too low for that outlet. Time will tell ....

It does seem more useful as streaming bait than limping along on the network.

Wouldn't crew that have to work on episodes actually be the last to know?

The actors and actresses have to negotiate or just renew their contracts, they'd have to know the show is coming back. As far as I know, a studio doesn't waste time or lawyer money to negotiate for a show that isn't coming back, so the cast would not be the last ones to know.

If a high-priced studio lawyer sits in the room ,says little, and just farts and drinks "Smart water" for an hour, he or she still gets like a bazlillion dollars an hour.

I doubt anyone is sitting in a room.......What I imagine is going on is FOX knows this is a show that Seth enjoys......it is NOT making them a ton of money. They are most likely trying to lowball them. IF you cut the budget to X amount and take a cut in pay we might give you a 3rd season order.......they go back and forth till they both agree or one of them says NO.......

Just read on Deadline that Lethal Weapon has been cancelled by Fox. I guess that leaves Star, Proven Innocent and Orville now.

They'd literally have to sit in a room to re-negotiate and be present to sign the relevant paper work. That kind of legal mumbo jumbo can't be faxed or otherwise.

No not really........they have to reach an agreement in principle........then they sign all the real contracts, but whatever you say.

Entertainment Weekly's Deathwatch 2019 has The Orville down as renewed, but TV By The Numbers Cancel Bear has it at 63% as of the 7th, I'm not sure which is more trustworthy.

I do not trust it---it also has Gotham renewed for a final season.............

Yup. Even I would sign up just for more Orville, even if it lasted only one more year and as long as the format remained the same. Something I would not do for, say, "The Big Bang Theory" during its heyday (seasons 1-4) or "Sliders" had streaming existed when FOX had its filming shifted from Vancouver to LA in its ill-fated third season in order to keep a tighter reign over Tracy Torme, though seasons 1 and 2 blew away season 3 with ease...

You don't agree to a contractual negotiations in principle mere days before the FOX schedule is announced. We were talking "The Orville", not random shows that don't have a deadline to meet and actors/actresses to secure before they potentially sign on to another series.

But what ever you say. 'cause that's how that works apparently; just toss on a quick useless comment.

Yeah, I saw that, but it does have The Cool Kids down as cancelled, so it is being updated. I'm thinking they probably started with the last list and missed Gotham.
I just checked TV Guide's list and even though it's dated today, it says "Currently airing Season 2" for The Orville, even though the season is already over.
