I wouldn't say it was completely unmemorable. As a tourism ad the first half would have totally made me want to visit Pandora for a holiday.Anyone get the impression I don't like that movie? Okay, I don't. It was completely unmemorable

It’s not the hate. It just didn’t age well. Cameron also really screwed up waiting 10+ years to make sequels. No one really wants Avatar any more and now four more movies are coming which many don’t want or care about. And also Avatar has had its day as top dog. It’s time to to stand aside.I must be one of the few people who loved avatar. I just don't get the hate for it.
I just pulled up the top all time domestic grosses adjusted for inflation on Box Office Mojo.
Endgame is at #129 with $393,446,989,
- Gone With the Wind - $1,822,598, 200
- Star Wars - $1,604,857,600
- The Sound of Music - $1,283,791,300
- E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial - $1,278,107,600
- Titanic - $1,221,303,800
- The Ten Commandants - $1,180,310,000
- Jaws - $1,153,990,200
- Doctor Zhivago - $118,460,500
- The Exorcist - $996,498,500
- Snow White and the Seven Dwarves - $982,090,000
- Star Wars: The Force Awakens - $974,117,00
I honestly had no idea ET, Jaws, or The Exorcist were that popular.
The Marvel title now sits as the second-highest-grossing film of all time, only behind James Cameron's 'Avatar.'
Avengers: Endgame is now the second-highest-grossing film of all time with $2.189 billion.
It has surpassed James Cameron's Titanic (1997), which earned $2.187 billion (unadjusted for inflation). Endgame achieved the remarkable feat after collecting another $145.8 million domestically and $282.2 million overseas in its second weekend.
The top-grossing film of all time is Cameron's Avatar (2009), with $2.8 billion at the global box office

Another fan tidbit: Only Five Movies Have Grossed Over $2 Billion and Zoe Saldana Is in Three Of Them
So basically if you want to earn $2B in the box office give Zoe Saldana's agent a call
(we covered green and blue already, wonder if she is up for any other colors)
Ah so it is the make up! If she plays it straight, no luck. As soon as she puts on some colorful make up... $$$Didn't exactly work out for Trek though did it?
Well, to be fair, their only good film (Beyond) had beyond shitty advertising, so it's no surprise it wasn't well-received in the box office.Didn't exactly work out for Trek though did it?

Not that I think it would put up those kind of numbers if it had been properly advertised.
Translation:Beyond is inarguably awful, so we won't argue about it here.
Bottom Line: Disney (and its shareholders and CEO) win. Gotta love monopolies, eh?https://deadline.com/2019/05/avenge...tional-box-office-results-records-1202604612/
Avengers: Endgame at $1.66B already. Should pass $2B and both Avengers: Infinity War and Star Wars: The Force Awakens during this weekend, with a slight chance to also catch Titanic for #2 all time. (current all time global box office)
Yeah the quality of our entertainment has just gone down the dr.... oh wait no.Bottom Line: Disney (and its shareholders and CEO) win. Gotta love monopolies, eh?
If only there was some way we could avoid giving them money. Like not going to see their movies for example. Unfortunately that's not an option and we're all forced to give our hard earned money to Disney and watch their movies. I mean even if there was just one other movie company out there making movies we could see. But no it's all Disney.Bottom Line: Disney (and its shareholders and CEO) win. Gotta love monopolies, eh?
It was fun, I've maybe seen it twice though. I certainly don't hate it though. You'd think that Cameron personally beat up everyone who hates it, I just don't get it or care to even listen to it. It mostly seems like sour grapes over it being successful instead of some other movie. Who cares?I must be one of the few people who loved avatar. I just don't get the hate for it.

Cameron is very technical director and he's managed to figure out how to appeal to as wide an audience as possible. Don't hate the player, hate the game.He just hasn't got around to you yet. By the time he's finished beating you up you'll hate it too!
I suspect that the majority of the hate is a reaction (overreaction?) to just how successful it was for what was really a fairly mediocre movie. I don't think it was a bad movie and I certainly enjoyed it, but I think people would like the highest earning movie of all time (at least so far) to be more significant. Other than the technical aspects (it looked incredible) there wasn't a lot going for it.
Beyond is inarguably awful, so we won't argue about it here.
