What does IMAX even mean these days? Same 4k digital as all other screens... yes, I know different sound mix, and 16:9 resolution instead of the regular ultra wide... but the magic is kind of gone from the IMAX brand. In the film days it was a whole different level different from the regular cinematic experience.

Let's be honest here, Avatar made as much money as it did because of how long it was in theaters. Same with Titanic getting a re-release. If Endgame stays in theaters as long as Avatar did it'll beat it handily.

Those movies were in theaters that long because people were still watching them. Same will be the case with endgame, as it was with black panther. BP was in theaters long after it was available at red box!

Yep, and a lot of people are telling me they want to see Endgame a couple times.

When you tie together an ensemble of 20 or so characters who have 20 or so complex and interwoven films behind them, turns out with some care and attention you can put a lot of depth in to this plot that'll take a few viewings to unravel.

Who knew!

Not going to say it...not going to say it.

Must bite tongue...must bite tongue...

DC.

Damn it!

Depending on where you live IMAX Laser is pretty impressive - very sharp.

Where does it say this? I can't find any articles that say anything other than the 1.2bn figure.

It takes a while for receipts from certain markets to fully come in, so I just added an extra hundred million because I felt like it.

SO THERE. :klingon:

Endgame was the conclusion of a story that was coming off a high. Infinity War was an amazing movie and they were coming into it with a lot of good will--and they delivered. Word of mouth will keep this movie on top for a little while longer.

Last Jedi did a lot of damage to the franchise. Rise of Skywalker will do well, but I don't see it breaking any records. Plus, if it follows the pattern of other recent Star Wars movies, people will be disappointed, and won't repeat watch.

I've seen it twice and I still don't really like it. Going to see it with some friends again later this week, maybe the third time will be th echarms.

I enjoyed the first avengers film as it was the first of it's kind and was fresh and entertaining. The wheels fell off for me with age of ultron and iron man 3, both of which I thought were dreadful films. I walked out of the theatre saying 'I'm done with these movies' - but I was curious to see infinity war so I gave it a chance and thought the quality had been restored and then some with this. It is a simply outrageous blockbuster movie. I'm looking forward to watching endgame now.
I have no doubt that yours is the majority point of view and I'm in the distance minority. But, Thanos has not intrigued me since GotG and I struggle to get aboard with the story. So, neither the Infinity War nor End Game, intrigue me.

Endgame was an amazing finale to a decade long, 22 movie series that has almost never failed to deliver

Rise of Skywalker Is the finale of a middling, lazy cash-in trilogy living of past glories from 40 years ago

I know which one I'm rooting for

I see it the same, I honestly think they did damage to their fanbase with TLJ, and we are only really going to see that play out now.

Of course, maybe they will get this movie right, and early word of mouth will be good and repair some of the damage.

It's the end of a trilogy, it's star wars, it'll have 100 million of marketing, it'll be opening with zero opposition, of course it will do pretty well

But it won't break no records, Mark my words, that went out the window with TLJ
