THE ORVILLE S2, E14: "THE ROAD NOT TAKEN"

So like in "Yesterday's Enterprise" when Picard turns around and Worf is gone and Yay is back, will we find Alara back for a cameo?
If anything, given Kelly remembers her trip to the future, it makes it all the more likely Talla will be there. Perhaps in this timeline, she was always the chief of security and Alara was never there.

I can't remember ... is there ever any suggestion that Admiral Halsey only agreed to Kelly's lobbying for Ed to get his own ship on the condition that she serve as XO?

From recollection, only because no other XOs were available. Fortunately, season one is so awesome it's more of a joy than chore to do another marathon. After all, I've never seen a better joke involving a redwood tree...

I could see Ed going either way. Kelly turning him down might have given him more time and motivation to make Captain. He might have a cruiser. Or Kelly turning him down might have damaged his self-confidence to the point where he never stood out and remains a lieutenant someplace.

But I call BS if it shows Ed as some rambling wreck someplace, a turndown after a first date is not that severe.

I see people talk about changed history, Kalons winning, and Isaac somehow remembering the original history. So this is basically Orville's version of "Yesterday's Enterprise". Could be great.

Or the Orville could be shielded from the changes to the timeline because they were at the center of the Negative Space Wedgie, leaving the crew unchanged.

One of the things the episode makes clear in the first scene is that Ed and Kelly may have actually been a negative influence on each other's careers spending too much time partying.

The "Get me Union Central" clip is from "Sanctuary," when the Moclan ship starts sending down shuttles. I'm guessing it doesn't have anything to do with the episode and Fox is just playing fast and loose with where they grab clips from for the teasers.

When I saw the preview, I thought it was just a bunch of clips from the season and they didn't show any actual footage from the finale. I didn't see any new footage, anyway.

I hope they wouldn't be taking on the one of the stories TNG got just about right.

(Yesterday's Enterprise's a “The Road Not Taken” kind of story obviously, so there will be some overlap, but let that be all.)

However, Isaac remember the original timeline would not be "Yesterday's Enterprise", it would be "Cause and Effect" (assuming they crew somehow do something to get him to remember).

Grayson has memories of her trip into the future of the original timeline. Even if she doesn't remember them, they could be triggered or recovered during the course of the story.

Like how the Enterprise was shielded from the timeline change at the start of First Contact. I could buy that.

OK, so she turned him down that morning. What's to say that he doesn't try again in a reasonable amount of time and this time convince her?

If not, next season is going to go sideways. Kind of like Discovery, but for different reasons.

Joel McNeely has posted about his score for the series finale (that's what I'm calling it until there's an official announcement):
The Orville season 2 finale is on tonight on Fox at 9/8c. It's a great ride and features a TON of incredible playing by LA's finest. It took a month to write the action heavy score and we had 94 players in the orchestra. I hope you'll check it out.
