Spoilers So now Discovery is 'synched-up' with canon

The film made it very clear that the divergence happened when Nero came back through time to 2233.

 doesn't fly - it needed to be at least when he decided to go back in time and even that doesn't work to get jim's pregnant mom on board in time - all it tells us is that those blueshirts need to invest serious efforts to solve that particular problem. if it had been the uss iowa on the other hand ...

I have no idea what you're talking about. The point of divergence was 2233 when the Narada appeared out of the black hole and destroyed the Kelvin. Winona Kirk being pregnant has nothing to do with anything.

 nope, where was our kirk born again? he would have been there when the narada popped in out of nowhere. ergo, the point of divergence needs to be earlier which brings us back to attila the hun or whatever ...

There is no canon information as to where Kirk was born.

The stardate provided at the point of divergence was 2233.04. Fact.

Dukat is correct.

 they (whoever blueshirt decerned it) got it wrong: our kirk is born in iowa, thatone is about to be born on the uss iowa kelvin

The Voyage Home, although I haven't seen the exact scene in a while.

Gillian: "Don't tell me, you're from outer space."

Kirk: "No, I'm from Iowa, I only work in outer space."

Nowhere does this say that he was born in Iowa. or even the name of the town.

You’re not being very clear when you say “our” Kirk. What does that even mean?

You said that The Voyage Home established Kirk as being born in Riverside Iowa in March 2233, which it did not do.

But this does, can we move on now or is this going to be one of those 3 day long arguments where there's already an answer?

Kirk: "No, I'm from Iowa, I only work in outer space."

Nowhere does this say that he was born in Iowa.

If you are "from" somwhere, you were born there.

My sister has spent all but a year of her life in Utah (where my family currently resides), but, unlike myself and our two other biological siblings, she is not "from" Utah because she was born when my family lived in Tuscon, AZ.
