THE ORVILLE Season Two...

I'm fine with time travel and alternate universe stories If They're Done Well.

The problem with both premises in Star Trek is that it is a well that has run dry. However, in Orville's case, the style of the series is to take used Trek Tropes and revisit them in new and interesting ways with a wink to the audience that that is what they are doing--and it works very well for this series.

^ who is Locarno? The dude that looked just like Tom Paris?

the character played by Robert Ducan McNeil in the First Duty.

Was supposedly going to carry across to voyager but there was some sort of rights issue so we got Tom Paris instead.

I look forward to seeing what kind of craziness The Orville gives us in their inevitable alternate universe/timeline episode.

I want to see them travel ten years into the past and find a world with hyper-advanced technology far beyond the present and weird dark fashions and aesthetics that nobody remembers. :rommie:

So I guess Jerald used to be on some other skiffy show?

(This actually belongs into the season 1 thread but I won't dare to ressurect that)

Can't believe it took me until now to make this connection - surely that can't be a coincidence? The spider's even on the same cheek! That's Gordon Malloy in "The Orville" and William Shatner in the kult movie "Kingdom of the Spiders".
Did we discuss this back then? I don't remember.

Anyone find it weird how there's been no follow up to Isaac after the two-parter? A lot of people on the ship died because of the part he took before he switched sides, but he's barely been given any screen time.

It's too big of an issue to brush under the carpet. There would be members of the ship who would have a problem with Isaac staying the moment it was announced. All they needed to do was show Lamar working with Isaac with reluctance for three seconds.

What I did find odd was during the scene with Isaac and John working together this week, Isaac was still going on with his old "my superior intelligence" routine. While I get that it may be hard for him to break the habit, his superior intelligence should be telling him that now he has to worry about his shipmates' opinion of him, and it's not a good idea to keep rubbing his higher IQ in their faces.
