Is the Federation still there in 950 years? Maybe there is no federation. I'm excited for the 950 years thing being entirely new, but again, I would have loved to see a little sneak of it, just to whet the appetite.

Same here, but I think they wanted to leave their options open and break the story for Season 3 when they got back from hiatus totally fresh, instead of trying to roll off of whatever they would've shown at the end of Season 2.

Well if it’s around the same time as Craft, then there is something that evolved from the Federation

While I don't mind a "rebuilding the Federation" story, I'd want a good long conversation in which it's made clear that the work of generations of Starfleet officers wasn't wasted, and that only by their work did the galaxy arrive at a place where there could again be a Federation. However, I vastly prefer seeing a shining new world of fantastic places, new threats, and new mysteries in which the Federation is still whole and active. Not sure that's where Calypso is taking us, but we'll see.

I really, really hope they have this more thought out than just "Hey, let's go way into the future and figure it out later."

I hope that is wrong. Can we get a couple weeks off before the new set of short treks. We just finished season 2 of Discovery for heavens sake.

Overall a very fun episode, even if there were a few "huh?" moments here and there, like them making it unclear why they still needed to run. I'm willing to forgive chats during dramatic moments since that's something every single show out there does, and it was very beautiful, especially the time jumps. Not sure about the ending - unfortunately we're going to have a long wait to see how that goes. I'm not sure I like them leaving the 23rd century, even if it supposedly gives them more freedom to play around with the setting.

Damn...
My excitement for this evening has been dulled by where DISCOVERY is going next season.

I know it's dumb, but cest' la vie.
