As far as I understood it, she made the magnetic field inside the Ripper box all wonky, forcing the nanos apart.
AH.., I see.
txs.
:techman:

I didn't really understand what she was saying to him, but I'm sure with a few more viewings I'll get it eventually.

I'm giving this one a 7.

The action was great, the battle sequences were tremendous, but the more I think about this episode the more I feel like the writers undermined it's own show. For one, I'm confused by the entire red angel, signal plotline, which this season was based. Also, Instead of an ending shot of Discovery in the future, we get an ending shot of those remaining in the present to forget about discovery or it's death (So I guess they will kill you two different ways in Trek for violating the law). Is Discovery turning into the Pike show? They can't tell the entire cast of Discovery to move aside for Anson Mount and Rebecca Romaijn and Ethan Peck, can they? I wish the last shot of the season would have been of The Discovery in the future. It is Star Trek Discovery, after all.

Loved the original theme mixed into the Discovery one at the end.
Excellent ending.
I didn't quite get what Georgieu did to Leland though in the Spore Drive cage?

She magnetized the spore drive cube and sucked the nanites out. I’m guessing they couldn’t function without the “host” or the magnetization was so strong it fried them....think continuous contained EMP.

I love so much about Discovery and a lot of elements in this season were excellent, but that was such an unsatisfying conclusion. This is what happens when the producers listen to complaints too much - so everyone just swears off ever mentioning the Discovery or any of its crew again? For what purpose?

Also, didn't like 10 crewmembers make a big deal last episode about how they were going with Burnham into the future? Discovery seemed almost fully staffed.

I loved the visuals of Burnham setting the signals and frankly that was as good an explanation as they could provide given all the moving elements this season.

I'm a little confused about this entire plotline. Why did she send the signals again? Was it to warn the crew of what was to come? Under scrutiny, this plot arc didn't make a lick of sense to me.

The signals had been instrumental at bringing Discovery to that point. Each signal was pivotal. One signal led them to rescue the engineer lady who would help create the red angle suit. One signal would lead them to Saru's planet allowing his sister to be able to join the fight. Another signal brought Pike to Borath to find the time crystal. etc... And Michael realized that it was a closed loop. She had to go back in time and create the signals in order to fulfill what from their perspective had already happen.

I do find it interesting that the writers figured out a way to canonize why future Star Trek series never mention Discovery or Michael. I guess they figured it was a plot hole that needed to be resolved.
