Just like technobabble, just because Trek has done it before isn't an excuse to do it again.
It's not an "excuse" when it's actually part of the charm of a 50 year old IP.

It's probably not ever going to go away and at this point is going to be used in any future Trek show that comes along.
Sometimes one just has to accept the inevitable and either look the other way or take it for what it is and enjoy it.

It's like complaining that warp speed gets us to the edge of the galaxy and back in a single episode way too fast. Speed of plot from the very first official episode of the very first season of the very first series.

One issue: Anson, you're supposed to hold onto the handle. Not touch it like a hot stove.
Yeah, but only Kirk had a penchant for hanging lovingly on to penis-shaped things...

I gave this episode a 1, in honor of Number One, and her extended scenes. This is my Number One episode.

I'm going to go eat a cheeseburger in her honor.

Well I can’t very well give this more than a 4, at best it filler episode, at worst it’s much a do about nothing. So yeah call me predictable, but outside of few cool shots of the Enterprise what was really good here to warrant a 9 or 10 that most fans will end up giving this episode?

There’s a difference between a filler episode and a character episode. This was very much all about character. But to each his own.

As for me, I give this a 9/10. There were a few groan-worthy moments, particularly the bit with Sarek and Amanda. A little too much cheese for my taste. But I had a literal grin on my face with the scene with Jet and Po in the middle. That was some fun stuff.

And the Enterprise? Love. Her.

But I’ve realized, I don’t want a Pike Enterprise series. I definitely want epic Pike Enterprise TV movies or a miniseries/limited series. There is too much of a good thing.

I do wonder if they aren’t setting up for a bait and switch with going to the future. But we shall see.

My favorite line of the episodes

"I thought there were no bad ideas?" - Emperor Georgiou

Truer words were never spoken. There are not bad ideas. There is only lousy execution. But best not to bemoan S1&S2 of TNG through ENT. Future looks bright!

Trek has always had technobabble and it always will.

That being said, there's good technobabble and there's bad technobabble. It obvious that Disco has it good.
