Interesting preview for next week. Did anyone else think that the preview scene where Pike says 'It's time,' to Michael that there is some kind of wormhole on the viewscreen? Kinda looks like one... or a planet near one. Hmm...

Gah, I hate the Control story. Far too predictable.

But for once I actually enjoyed the L’Rell/Ash stuff. And the Pike storyline? They hinted we were going to see the accident but DAMN, that was some powerful shit. 8/10. Far better than last week.

Looking forward to ol 1701’s triumphant return next week!

I knew the makeup department wouldn't disappoint with Pike's disfigurement. One of the finest examples of updating the old series with new techniques.

And don't the hands separated by a glass protective radiation barrier evoke Star Trek II? Spock drew upon the example of his former commanding officer. Wonderful!

Also, judging by the viewscreen, it looks like next week we're going to be intersecting with something very interesting from one of the Short Treks...

I gotta say, I am actually rooting for a Borg origin story at this point. It's about the only thing that can save this awful storyline for me. Or at least, I'm hoping the setup is Control becomes Proto Borg as a direct result of Spock's actions.

There's just something poetic about that.

And I thought the tension there was great. Even though you know damn well Burnham isn't going to bite it, I was cringing and recoiling the whole time. Really well done.

What twist? Gant being Control? I had this inkling when I saw the promo pictures and voiced it this morning in this very thread.

Someone from Burnham’s past showed up in 31 garb? Control has been after Burnham. Why wouldn’t it use that opportunity to catch her off guard?
