Did they just spore jump into Klingon soace? I hope they gave them some warning or that action could lead to war. :)

The Pike stuff was just awesome. Gut wrenching. Filmed and acted really well. Almost had me in tears. I've really grown to love that character.
The Pike stuff was what made this episode. It was heartbreaking to actually see his fate and there were shades of "If Memory Serves" (Which is probably going to be the best episode of the season) in that scene. The stuff with Burnham and Spock was kind of predictable and there.

I gave this episode a 7, by the way, mainly because of Pike.

Interesting preview for next week. Did anyone else think that the preview scene where Pike says 'It's time,' to Michael that there is some kind of wormhole on the viewscreen? Kinda looks like one... or a planet near one. Hmm...:vulcan:

Edit: Oh :wtf:, that's the planet from Runnaway according to wikki fandom. Interesting.

If that ain't the Borg . . .

as much as they seem to love fanwankery this season I will be very surprised if this is not the origin story. You may hate what 's coming, but resistance is . . . aw nevermind.

Oh my. The preview for next week gave us what a lot of people have been waiting for all season. Interesting. Very interesting. We need some good comparison shots to appreciate how they've translated design elements from the original.

Really good episode. The Pike stuff was especially nice, and I found myself really enjoying how the show combined semi-TNG Klingon visuals with TOS-era science fiction concepts. Fun stuff.

Edit: Also, the scene between Michael and Control had a real sense of stakes. I really thought what seemed like it was about to happen could have really become the central plot of the last two episodes in that moment. I'm glad it didn't, but the fact that it felt like it could is a credit to the episode.

Also, we got some fantastic transitional elements, such as Dr. Burnham to Burnham, Boreth to the display, and Saru...to a rock. :D

Control is just stupid. With a flair for the dramatic. It could have easily taken Michael in the shuttlecraft, and killed Spock then, too. But no. It has to act like a Bond villain to spill the beans before being overpowered. Just dumb. My Milton Bradley Comp IV has more brains that that...

Wouldn’t hitting a body at near light speed vaporise said object?
That’s not how warp works. It allows travel covering vast distances by “warping space.” It’s not any more velocity than full impulse. The warp factor is how much space around a ship is bent.

I loved the scene in the mess hall with the secondary characters. I wish they had done more of those moments this season.

The scenes with Reno have me eating my earlier words about her being a stock wisecracking character. She was excellent with Culber.
