The deepfake looks ... unconvincingly fake.

Interesting. Can it be done with Nimoy's voice too?

Pretty shit. You could have just gone with 'fake' instead of 'deepfake' man.

This Leonard fellow looks like he could play an older version of Ethan Peck's character.

You're right, the deepfake process can imitate facial features, but the technology still can't get the pupils right.

Yup, I see Abraham Lincoln in there, too. Ethan Peck has so much facial hair, he looks like Wolverine, and beards don't deepfake very well. That said, I like Ethan Peck more than Zachary Quinto.

Boy, you people sometimes … Why all the negativity towards someone who decides to post their piece of fan art here? Way to make someone feel welcome …

I for one found this sequence to be particularly successful in merging Nimoy's face into Peck's:

    Nice job.

What's fascinating is that this technology has only been out there for people to fool around with for about two years.

As is usually the case, the most immediate use it was put to was porn. Almost as inevitably, Star Trek fans will probably be the next wave of adopters.

    This is gonna get weird.

Thanks, man. I don't respond to haters. I've gotten positive feedback from some of the creators of the "Star Trek Continues" series. The technology is far from perfect at this point, and I'm not a VFX expert, but I welcome everyone's constructive suggestions and requests.

That's amateur level deepfake right there.
    Wanna see a good deepfake?

The technology to deepfake voices is available, but it's a huge task to gather enough voice samples to make the model work. https://github.com/andabi/deep-voice-conversion.

If you're going to re-post someone else's video, you really should give credit to the guy that made it.
