Poll Who would you like to see be Discovery's next captain?

My first choice was Number One. But since it doesn't look like that'll happen, let me say not who I'd want the Captain to be but what qualities I'd like the Captain to have.

I want the next Captain to be the following things:
1. A woman.
2. Someone who will piss off the Usual Suspects because she does her job competently.
3. Someone who can stick around for longer than a season.

 

So Burnham then.

 

It could be. It could also be another previously unseen Captain. As long as they're in that mold. Like I said, Number One was my first choice. There have to be a lot of women who could be Captains. All they have to do is pick one. Story-wise, Burnham isn't quite ready for the position yet at this point.

 

I've started catching up with Tin Star, which stars Tim Roth. As Tim is spending time in Canada these days, I wouldn't be adverse to them somehow getting him as the next Captain, perhaps even the infamous Captain Ron Tracey that some are so concerned about.

One the other hand, with Tim's career in general and Tin Star in particular, he'd probably want to have it in his contract that he's allowed to say "fuck" whenever he wants to. Not that I'd be bothered.

 

I really don't want this revolving captaincy thing to continue, and I want the captain to be someone we already know. So because they probably won't do my favourite option of somehow bringing the real Georgiou back, it basically means either Burnham or Saru.

 

Andorian Captain! Maybe the Grandson or Daughter of Shran.

 

This is not a Trek novel.

 

I didn’t know any captain ahead of time except for Pike, so I’m fine with someone new.

 

The more I picture Cpt. Jack Sparrow in the captain's chair, the more I can see it being a reality. Or at least in a multiverse reality.

 

Still holding out hope for Number One.

Or they can do like the Oscars and not have a captain in season 3.

 

He could be an Andorian in need of a tonsillectomy. Would save on the casting budget. It’s done wonders for the CMO.

 

They've already said that Romjin won't be back for season 3, so Number One can't be the new CO.

Dammit.

Cornwell: "Presenting Discovery's new Captain, Richard Robau. Captain Robau, this is your executive officer, Commander Saru."
Robau: "Thank you Admiral, I'll take it from here. Walk with me, Mr. Saru."

Actually, imagine if Robau were commanding the ship this season?
Leland: "Damn it, Robau, Section 31 has jurisdiction here, which means you dance to my tune."
Robau: "Mr. Leland, I find your spook nonsense offensive to Federation values and to me personally."
Robau glares at Leland. Leland shits his pants.

 

Now that would explain why the spore drive becomes inoperable. Robau saw how dangerous would be and merged with it to punch all of existence in to submission if they even think of using it again.

 

Definitely Robau. Why not?

 

Just demote Cornwell, please. Put her in the Captain's Chair. And get out of her way...
