Spoilers 2x09 Preview Images

An all female boarding party! Is that a first? Woohooo!:bolian: I really like Cornwell, good to see her again. Let's hope she isn't too embroiled in the S31 leadership.

I wonder if that's why she was left out of the admirals' briefing last week?

That would certainly be a cool twist. But we do see what appears to be Airiam attacking Burnham in the preview. Two shady people betraying Discovery on the mission seems a bit much.

Glad that the the wider supporting cast of the Bridge crew is getting some screen love. More of this the better. :shifty: Come to think of it I hope no one gets red-shirted...

Yeah, I am a bit concerned for Nhan at this point. Fingers crossed that she's not a casualty.

I just read she was Pike's Engr. on the Enterprise before the "promotion" to security.

They seem to have ditched the initial engineer idea in favour of security. I'm happy with that.

Gotta say, you would wonder why Enterprise's chief engineer wouldn't stay aboard with the ship in such a mess -- and so it turned out in the end.

I hope her red-shirt past doesn't catch up with her...!!

I thought she was a cert to be "Red Shirted" in Episode 1 of Season 2, but they cleverly offed the blue shirt guy.
Surprising

I don't think she was ever meant to be Pike's Chief Engineer (Louvier is currently), but she was definitely called an engineering officer when she first beamed over. I think she works as a Security officer, but it's gonna turn into a meme if another of Discovery's Chief of Security encounters severe misfortune. That would make it 3 for 3.

I think Nhan is a Section-31 agent, while Airiam is something completely different.

Either one of them would have been able to frame Tyler.

And that may have been Pike wanting to bring her for the mission but not wanting to draw unnecessary attention that a security officer might be needed (at least that's my head canon).

...By people aboard the Discovery, ignorant of who exactly was coming, and unable to communicate except through Morse code. Perhaps Nhan never was an engineer at all?

As for Louvier, the very fact that this character is being discussed between Pike and Number One suggests there's a heavy emphasis on "currently" there. Might be Louvier is merely in charge of putting the ship back together, while the actual CEO is somebody else. Might have been Nhan for all we know. (At full Commander rank, she wouldn't be any lower sort of an engineer!)

Interesting that Airiam wears (needs?) a spacesuit.

One of the first things that struck me was Airiam in the space suit.

...And this episode is our first chance to learn that fact in-universe.

Even this preview already sort of protects Gene's Vision!!! in separating Airiam from Data in physical capabilities; we have little reason to doubt the sentience bit, or at least the sapience bit, based on the first season and a half. Although since Airiam is the strong and silent type, might be she's both a vulnerable cyborg and a dull automaton...
